Default Clean looking tuner help

Hey guys, im new here so all help would be appreciated

Im about 90% sure about a 06 honda accord ex-L v6 2d that im gonna buy
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/...ist=6

Ive reacantly gotten really interested in cars, and really want to tune my car some so it feels like mine. but i dont want to be a 100% ricer or anything.

iv got a lot of questions here so i decided to jam them into one thread instead of having multiples so bear with me

1. i want a CAI but im afraid of hydrolocking (air bypass, completely stops it? cons?)

2. im looking for a body kit but i dont want something to overly flashy, are there any out there that i can still make it over a speed bump or wont ground on a railroad track. ive looked but i can only find ones that are on the ground, should i just go with the crappy one from the dealer or should i go to a shop and see what they say? or what?

3.) rims? are there any that look particularly good on accords?

4.) as far as the interior goes its all black on a black car, so i want to accent the interior with red some. I might get red leather inserts (can you?) what else is there to do, in the lines of accenting color (consol, interior lights ex) could you guys help me with this??

as well what kind of money am i looking at for each. O and i forgot to mention its a family tradition to run the car completely into the ground, so i can do all this slowly over a LONG time so i can do this stuff as money comes. what order should i do?

THANX for the help guys

well for the body kit i would say DO NOT do it. but that's cuz i'm not a big fan of them so my opinion is biased. you said you didn't want too much of a ricer look so i would stay away from it. I haven't seen it done on the newer accords, but see if you could find a lip kit or something...idk if they make them for 06's or not. i have a 5th gen accord and they look nice on most of them. for my car it's like 160 dollars for front and back.

as far as rims go, try to find something black with like a chrome lip. i think that would look nice on the accord you are looking at right now. it would look clean. go with volk or enkei or something if you can. rims do get pricy tho. with tires you're probably looking at 500+ dollars i wanna say for an estimate.

the interior probably comes pretty good looking anyways. try a small bar of red neon (if that was the color you really wanted) under the driver and passenger feet. hook them up to light up when you open the door. 30-40 dollars on neons?

i tried to help haha good luck

Body kits= sure why not. Just not ebay ones. Wings west makes some nice kits. Some are really nice.
Intakes=I have a CAI. I do am scared of hydrolocking, but I live in southern Cali. So little rain here. They make those air bypass too if you're scared. But if you are still, I suggest SRI with some heatshield.
Rims=check out the Accord picture thread. You'll find some nice ones. I really like the Acura TL and CL rims on Accords.
Interior=I really want to do interior neons. Just in the foot area. Like when you open the door, it lights up. I don't want to do too much, just that. You can also do some gauge cluster upgrades. Maybe some new faces. Maybe some trim upgrades...

Since its a fairly new Accord, I would get.... intake, lower it, maybe some brighter headlights. And a spoiler. Then you can move on to changing all those interior lights to color LEDs or white LEDs. Maybe some valve cover painting.

wings west do make awesome body kits.....after searching a bit i came across V-Fiber body kits....they are not made or pure fiberglass and are more flexible then regular ones

Suspension: Tokico Illumina struts with Neuspeed RACE springs....Megan Front and Rear upper strut bars....aggressive drop but with the BC2 not to much....

body kit: Buddy Club 2

rims: Volk TE-37's - Racing Hart RS-721's - Rota Circuit 8's

interior trim: they make 3M dash trim kits....carbon fiber and all sorts of colors....go with the gauges and the trim kit....maybe the footwell accent lighting too....but be very subtle with this.

Exhaust:HKS-and Tunabe make for good tone....if you cannot find a true CAT-BACK exhaust then go with a hi-flow Cat and a Reputable canister muffler

just a few pointers....please have the kit painted before install....stick with one other accent color like your black/red idea....this would do for a pretty slick ride

get that HFP lip kit.. tint your windows.. oem accord spoiler, if it already doesn't have one.. oem fogs.. intake... get the dual Greddy TiC exhaust. it doesn't take too much to make the newer accord coupe v6 look hot !

yeah, the honda dealer sells the lip kit, fogs, spoiler... depending on the dealer, most of them will mark the prices up, so look around.

it may be a oem looking copy.. they make a full lip kit for your accord.. both, the front and the sides costs $355.. the rear lip costs $499.. and fog lights are $335.

well, if you buy from the dealer you WILL know it will directly bolt on unlike some other kits.. if you go to honda's website and build a new one.. you can get an idea of what it would look like.. 06 and 07's body is the same.

for 19,000 dollars?! you could buy an itr and still have money to play. or an evo or an sti or an s2000 or a clean swapped built/boosted hatch. AND STILL have money for 4 or 5 daily drivers. /thread

ok thanx for the help there, its a first car, i have no need for a rally car either. i need something with great rep for safety and something that still looks decent and the accord was a pretty good compromise, anyways i don't want to get some old car that has a hundred thousand miles on it that i risk having it in the shop all year because the previous owner raced the crap out of it.

i will at some point in my life be buying older cars to use as project cars to fix up but not for my first car

do you not think that 19 is fair for that car for an 06 i dont want to go too old

Excuse my frankness......Do you have 19k or are you getting a loan? If you have 19k, don't buy a accord. I know i"m gonna catch some flak but accords aren't the best tuner cars. They are very getting big and heavy and that's gonna take a lot of hp to overcome. The new civics are even getting very big. The new civic is the size of my 94 accord.

For 19k you can buy an older car and rebuild the entire engine, transmission, suspension and new paint job and have it new. I'm in the middle of my 85 mr2 rebuild and I'm going to spend at most 2 grand on it. Add on that I got the car for $1200 and it comes out to $3200. You can also find very good examples of well taken care of used cars for 7-8 grand.

If you buy a car off a lot, the minute you drive it off that lot, it depreciates in value. As you can probably tell, I'm not a fan of new cars. I think making mandatory maintecne on used cars is a great way to learn to work on cars. I learned a lot about engines by ripping them apart.

If you must purchase a new car for the reliablity for long distance work or school, then go ahead. But if you really wanna know how to work on cars, nothing like learning how to fix something because you have to. *

*My personal opinion, no flaming but comments are welcome.

i absolutely agree with you on that and im planning on doing that at some point in my life

i don't know if i said this already but this is going to be my first car so i need it to be safe and reliable, my parents are helping with half of the payment and i have to come up with the other half.

the accord is not new it is used so the 20% value loss or whatever it is once you drive off the lot was already lost. im not planning on doing all these mods right when i get home, they are going to be over time as i build up money after the monthly payments

like i said i agree with your point 100% and i will do this once i get to the point that im ready to dedicate time to fixing a car

Can I give you some more advice? Keep your mods to this car simple and inexpensive. Resist the urge to spend lots of money on the car. Take this time to save money for your project and read some books on cars. It took me 4 years since my 1st car to find a project/race car, know enough to work on cars confidently, and enough money to maintain 2 cars.
