Default Vtec wont pop

i recently swapped out my d15b from my 95 eg, and put ina b16a 2nd gen everything went well, but eversince i started driving it i noticed the v wasnt poping i changed the p30 ecu put in a chipped p28 ecu still nothing. i let the car warm up has pleany of oil i checked the silinoid all good. I have a v tec light so it is easy to tell its been 2 weeks since i swapped it and still no vtec. i cheeked all the vtec wires all in good condition. i think it might be the oil pump but mootr only has approx 45xxx miles. in my d15b vtec poped fine im confused, semes kinda new for the pump to be going out any info is appreciated thanx

i can think of five things that disengage VTEC.

1.) CEL codes
2.) Dent on oil pan
3.) Low on oil
4.) Harness not hooked up properly (check wirings)
5.) Not properly warmed up

**By counting the number of flashes, you can decipher the CEL #.
SHORT flashes are single digits (1/2 second)
LONG flashes are 10's (1 second)

-----CEL # List-----
1 O2A - Oxygen sensor #1
2 O2B - Oxygen sensor #2
3 MAP - manifold absolute pressure sensor
4 CKP - crank position sensor
5 MAP - manifold absolute pressure sensor
6 ECT - water temperature sensor
7 TPS - throttle position sensor
8 TDC - top dead centre sensor
9 CYP - cylinder sensor
10 IAT - intake air temperature sensor
12 EGR - exhaust gas recirculation lift valve
13 BARO - atmospheric pressure sensor
14 IAC (EACV) - idle air control valve
15 Ignition output signal
16 Fuel injectors
17 VSS - speed sensor
19 Automatic transmission lockup control valve
20 Electrical load detector
21 VTEC spool solenoid valve
22 VTEC pressure valve
23 Knock sensor
30 Automatic transmission A signal
31 Automatic transmission B signal
36 traction control found on JDM ecu's
41 Primary oxygen sensor heater
43 Fuel supply system
45 Fuel system too rich or lean
48 LAF - lean air fuel sensor
54 CKF - crank fluctuation sensor
58 TDC sensor #2
61 Primary oxygen sensor
63 Secondary oxygen sensor circuit
65 Secondary oxygen sensor heater wire (black wires)
67 Cat Converter
71 random misfire cylinder 1
72 random misfire cylinder 2

your codes don't make any sense. the short is a clearing like between codes. but you either have a code 6 and a code 30 which doesn't make sense or you have a code 36 which also doesn't make sense. try again...

Not necesarily, thats a vast overstatment. VTEC will not work for CEL's having to do with VTEC itself such as oil pressure and the solonoid. Other CEL's will not affect VTEC's engagment (unless you are running limp mode)

Yes, speed sensor, Tach (actualy signal from dizzy), low oil, cold engine temp, if all are malfunctioning, then yes, VTEC will not work.

CEL's for other Random things will not shut off VTEC
like O2 sensors, TPS/IAC/MAP, IAT, ect.

Ive had CEL's for those in the past ( and some present), and my VTEC works quite fine

Correction, i had a clogged map sensor, not a completely deficient one. was running obesely rich , shooting clouds of black smoke upon VTEC crossover, lol.

As for your VTEC problem, have you considered taking out the solonoid itself to make sure its not clogged. Small chance that may be the case.

That won't happen.

Video tape the CEL so somebody can tell you what it is or take it to autozone/pep boys/advance auto and get the code read.
