Rear end on Civics tough? Had a fender bender this morning and shocked at the lack of damage
Mainly I am just shocked that nothing really caved in or ended up being bent out of shape.
I wass rear ended on the parkway this morning (oh yeah great way to start a friday morning!). There are some scrapes on the bumper and you can see that it's out of alignment, muffler is bent over to the side a little as well. Back end of the car feels like it is out of alignment and the exhaust is much louder than usual.
Stiff neck and back but nothing too crazy.
I don't know exactly how hard I was hit but it was enough to give me one hell of a jolt. The benz that hit me had front end damage, hood wasn't crushed but almost looked like someone popped the hood and didn't close it all the way, ripped the license plate off and I think the radiator broke because there was something blowing up from under the hood.

were you on your brakes when he hit you?
if so then the rear of the car was a little higher than usual, thus deflecting some of the impact under the vehicle. If you were not moving at the time then you are lucky.

Similar to what happened to me, only a durango backed up into my rear bumper and put a hole in it with the tow hitch.
Insurance told me it was fixable and the auto body told me it had to be replaced.
In the end it was a little under 700 dollars to replace the bumper and paint.

got hit from the back by a 98 teg and there was no damage to either car...
for some reason a low speed impact straight-on on these rear bumpers can all be absorbed without much other than scratches. i didn't even get scratches on mine. but then later someone hit the corner and scratched it.

I was just coming to a complete stop so I think that is what saved my ***. Like you said if I had been at a complete stop it probably would have been worse.
No it was the Northern State Parkway.
Funny because I saw the lady flying up the right hand lane in a rush and she ended up behind me because there was no room to pass the car in front of me. She gets behind me and I say to myself "wow this b!tch better not ride my *** because she is in a rush"
Not an exit later she plows into me

time to collect that Insurance Check, go to the best body shop in the area that way they will give you a high estimate, then have some one paint it on the side.
