Default Engine Q

Alright, I was told i have a d16a6 head on a d16z6 block. Wanted to know if this is true and what problems i'm running into. I also noticed where the vtec bolts up there isn't one.

Don't say anthing about the valve cover or the blue hose, Its getting changed saturday. Thinking of a bronze color.

it's hard to tell by looking at your picture. if your block say d16z6, it should be a sohc vtec motor. the vtec solenoid is not there because it's a non-vtec head.

oh by the way, you have a cute little engine bay!

Yep, its definately a Non-VTEC head. It looks like it has the z6 intake mani also. You pretty much got the whole z6 minus the head..

alright then which head should i go with? the 1.6l vtec or 1.5? I've heard one has better compression than the other/ better pull.

a 1.6l vtec head.

Though I can find you several people who will attest to the "mini-me" swap being a complete waste of time and money.

You're better off saving for a turbo setup and just turboing the non-vtec.

vtec shmetec.

He has a Z6 block, it wouldn't be a mini-me swap, he'd finally have a full Z6 motor.

@ OP:
Don't do anything with it unless you plan on keeping it for awhile. If you plan on swapping just deal with it the way it is for now and leave it. If you plan on keeping the engine at all and/or not turboing it you might wanna locate a Z6 head so your Z6 motor will be complete.

Mini-me is a waste, in my opinion. VTEC Smetec indeed...

I'd keep the head you have for now. Research and see what you want out of the car first.
