any help appreciated!!

These questions do not get answered for some reason, no one wants to talk about A/C I guess. It's just not JDM,
Ha. I had this same problem on my old Del Sol and it turned out to be the bearings in the compressor. It will still work but make a really loud squeeking noise at high RPM's. It is the compressor telling you that it needs new bearings. I have heard of people replacing them, but you have to keep the coolant becuase they do not sell it anymore. A new compresoor might be the way to go. The clutch is engaging fine if it still gets cold and works. Hope this helps

it has nothing to do with it being jdm. why answer if you don't have any reliable advice to give.

dont they use it in Japan? </TD></TR></TABLE>
it's not that people don't like to talk about a/c. i guess no one on here is that experience with compressors (at this time of the day anyway).
and yes they use a/c in japan.

there are few places now-a-days that replace only the bearing or rebuild compressors. it is faster and more efficient just to replace the whole compressor. which means you are looking at about $500 for a new one.

yes, now you are speaking my language.
the DOHC use a larger compressor, and the lines to the compressor are ran slightly different over the SOHC.
since you plan on doing a swap, i'm taking it you have a civic. when you do the swap, you will need to pick up the compressor bracket off of a crv, and the d-series compressor and belt will bolt right up. no headaches, no custom lines. plug n play.

you won't be able to keep the DOHC set up, so keep the SOHC compressor.

so then all i need is a compressor bracket of a CRV and thats it, right??</TD></TR></TABLE>
yes, and since you have a a/c bracket from the DOHC motor, make sure you take off the pulley and pulley brakcet and put it on the new a/c bracket.
