Newbie Please Help! Timing belt & O2 Sensor Question
Hi and thanks for looking.
2001 Honda Accord LX 4 cylinder 4 Door
Mileage: 82,120
Question #1: My dealer wants $679 for a timing belt change is that a fair price or should I consider a local mom and pop place? Also what should that cost include besides a water pump?
Question#2
My car has been running very roughly/poor performance. When I took it to the delear they told me it was the Upper/Before Cat O2 sensor. I went ahead and replaced the part with a Pep Boys O2 sensor. The car still runs very poorly. OBD Code gives me 3 codes for faulty O2 sensor still.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

that price=um, rape.
check your wiring for the o2. make sure the connections are good to it.
when was the last time you did a tune-up?

too much mulla for the timing belt, but If you don't know how to do it your self or you can't find a good local shop - then give it to the dealer - because you don't wanna screw up your engine...it will cost you more to replace the engine.
I normally do my timing belts - I know how to do it, just like the dealer. I also know that - not every local shop guy can install a Honda timing belts - most of them will install timing belt toooooooooo tight.... and Balancer Belt out of Balance... you bet.
most Local guys don't read Manuals - so they screw your engine mounts...never tight your nuts and bolts properly - will cost even more money...
I am telling you again - If you don't know how - or - you don't know the local shop technician - then Dealer is the best way to GO.
I am speaking with Experience (even though I am not a good mechanic .
