hi guys, Im having a bit of a crisis these days. I've been hanging out at the track a lot, and see all kinds of BMW's and various other machines floating around. I'm absolutely in love with my '99 integra, and honda in general, but I'm starting to look at the dark side with a bit of envy. I know our cars are well built, but the BMr's seem solid as tanks, even their sheet metal just has a higher quality look to it. what I'm getting at, is I'm starting to question my love for hondas, when I look at other cars out there. the 3 series BMR for a good example. I just cant help but think I'm missing out on something. I know theyre great cars, but DAMMIT, wheres the "h" badge? I know weve got the edge on reliability, but after a while it gets old. Help me get back on track!
Hey, I used to love ONLY Integra's and Civic Si's haha...
Now I am making my DC into a track ***** and buying a 95 Accord coupe...

I wouldn't even consider a BMW 3 Series and an Integra/Honda in the same category. Two completely different cars offering different competitive advantages.

yeah thats true. I think I focus on what the BMW does well, and forget the fact that our hondas have been competetive with them for a long time. Engine for engine, chassis for chassis, I guess they are hard to compare. As a street car, theyre a nice machine for sure, but then again, Ive never drivena tsx or CL-S!
to be quite honest, i HATE bmw's, mercedes, and all those other POS cars. i know they are very well built cars, but i just cant stand them. i think alot of people just buy them as status symbols. jus my opinion. although, if i had to choose between a bmw and a honda id probably choose the bmw so i could sell it and buy 3 hondas
theyre good cars, too bad they are fat as hell. you know how much an E46 M3 weighs? ~3400 lbs!!!!!! thats ~800 lbs more than an integra. and still fatter than an evo or sti. Im sorry, I just dont like fat girls.
I used to be in your same position.....I had a civic and I was thinking about trading it in for a BMW E36......but I cant do it I grew up around Hondas all my Life......I ended up trading my civic for a Integra and no regrets. I plan on turboing my teg and dressing it up with a JDM front end......In the end of all that I am going to have something that is faster and will get more looks than a BMW......

LOL, thats funny! I hear you there. They handle it well though. It just confuses me. Its kind of a mystical thing, not sure why there as good as they are, or if theyre as good as the hype. I DO know though, after changing the springs in my uncles 328, after pulling out all that massive spring and shock assembly, there are all these tiny little sensors made of plastic ready to snap at any moment, and set of a fancy little dash light.

Bmw's and porshe and mercadies are def. built great. But why would u want to move from a honda to them? bmw's are a pain to work on compared to a honda, and not to mention, the parts are expensive! im a mechanic at a shop where all we concentrate on are bmw porshe and mecadies.
Dude, WTF. Blasphemer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BLASPHEMER!!!!!!
what are you thinking, ~thinks to ones self "this may call for a no-holds-bard intervention~
I am both shocked and appalled...... lol

LOLOL, thats awesome. Thanks man. I needed some reinforcement!! BMW does what they do well, but after I ranted, I went back to kingmotorsports website, and looked at the new mugen RR video... Then I thought, man, even when I'm in the middle of those snotty bastards at the track, I can stand proud...... and then go drive right passed most of them

I am sort of in your shoes, only on the other end of the spectrum. I own a 96' 328i and don't know if I should go Honda or not.
Heres my options right now. I have about $13,000 to play with. I could get an E36 M3. It has +50 hp, +19 tq, 3.23 LSD, and RWD. Oh and its an M3!!! But... even the E36 M3 is slow compared to most modern cars out on the highway. Also, money for mods would be scarce. The cheapest FI plans on ANY E36 ranges from 2-3k to a more realistic 6-8k, and is the only real way to gain power.
My other option, hint: why I am a new user at Honda-tech, A HONDA!!! An LS Integra average cost around 5-6k nice, and then engine rebuild w/forged internals 900-1k, and then the turbo setup aiming for low daily levels of power around $3500. Basicly, you pay as much as you do for a BMW, but you end up having a much faster car. -RWD -BMW refinement. But at this point of my life I would want to experience good speed and wait for speed + luxury later on.

Yeah thats an interesting perspective. Its hard to compare both. BMW's are very refined, but hondas in general are no slouches in being smooth and solid. Its just a different beast. The M3 would be REALLY hard to pass up, but Ive always been a fan of integras, they fit me well, and are a great platform/chassis. Plus from what Ive seen, is that once you take any car to the track and start to prep it, the rwd/fwd differences arent that noticeable (other than driving style). I'm sure you'd find the repairs a lot easier to swallow on the integra!
you cant have luxury, speed and still have a honda price tag, you have to compromise somewhere and be proud of the things honda's do well. besides whats not to like about low maintenance, inexpensive repairs, nearly everything interchanges, easy to work on, moderately inexpensive in price tag, accept modifications well, generally low curb weights... pick your poison
