Default Rattle, Rattle, Rattle

Here's the scenario - last October I wrecked my A-ride. front bumber, radiator, condensor, all the radiator supports, front tie bar, front right fender, right hand door shell... mostly cosmetic damage except for the front end. I sent it to shop to fix it and they did a shitty job. When I got it there was a lot of problems. The worst was this intermittent rattle coming from the front end. Initially I thought it was the cat - it sounded just like my girlfriend's Jeep that had its cat go bad but the problem got worse. The rattle got louder and louder and less and less intermittent. I'm amost positive that it's something rolling around in the bell housing. But that *** body shop hasn;t addressed the problem porperly yet and it tewlling me they can't identify the rattle because they feel it was unrelated to the accident. Ideas on what the **** could come loose in the bell housing? Drive train is stock except for ACT heavy duty pressure plate and hybrid disc. Please help.

If there was something loose in the bell housing, I highly doubt you would hear it.
Check and tighten every single nut and bolt on your front suspension, particularly the front radius rod bolt and the shock-top bolts. Also, check to see if any bushings are worn or damaged.

no no no wrong kind of rattle... it sounds like a nail in an empty coffee can which is why I thought it was the cat...

When does it rattle? With the car running? Only over bumps? Does it change with engine or car speed?

It doesn't matter if the clutch is in or out, or what gear it is in. It sounds the worst when I've depresed the clutch and the motor is winding down but I think this is because I'm using moving slowly pulling into the driveway and the motor is making less noise.

If it is something in the tranny, then the body shop ain't going to do anything about it. They are a body shop, not mechanics, so don't blame them. Take it to a mechanic.

No problems yet for me with my ACT XTSS (except for the pressure plate being the last straw on the clutch master cylinder's back).

so just after you guys get talking about bolt backing out of flywheels and I have this rattle problem from the front end... well you can guess what what was causing the rattle.

I got 40K on a ACT HD pressure plate and org street disc with stock flywheel. You think I should look into throwing in another disc while they got it all apart?
