HID KIT QUESTION
What Kelvin temperature are you guys using on the hids? I want to buy a 9006 conversion hid kit but want the right color, i want it to looks as close as the bmw, 350 z's, newer cars look, looks like a 6000K from pictures i have seen so far, I had some 9006 jdm bulbs that were 4000K but looked excellent, are hid bulbs different? could someone help?
I believe 6000K is what is in BMW Audi etc. They are pretty white almost bluish. 8000K is blue and 10000K is purple. The HID will provide a truer white light than any halogen bulb. The lights you had (4000K) were they HID or halogen?
4300k is what you see in the Acura TSX. The BMW/AUDI HID kits are whiter. However, from experience (i've owned 4 kits over the years) the lower the kelvin color temperature the less color you get, and from what i've seen, the audi/bmw lights dont project as much color as the ones found on Acura's. The projector lens they shine through are what sometimes give it some odd colors at different angles.
i had halogen 4000K and it was a really good color but bulbs go out way to quick epecially if they are not jdm from my experience, i only want a slight blueish tint. thanks for the replys
okay i am going to make this really short...
6000k crap 10000k crap....thats all fake *** bullshit and the companies that sell the kits with these kelvin ratings are garbage and are gonna fry something up on your car. DONT BUY THAT Bite the bullett and get the real deal either:
Phillips LVQ 212 BALLASTS or Hellas those are the only real ones thats it.
Bulbs: phillips, or osram if the bulbs dont say that they are pure ****
d2r for non projectors, and d2s for projector units..
4100k kelvin is what you want and is the REAL DEAL. the reason you see the audi's and bmw's "flicker" blue white purple white etc..thats because the light is bending and refracting off the cutoff shield inside the projector unit itself the light itself is not blue or purple it is pure ******* white. next time you drive next to a car that has hid;s stock...look on the ground and see what color the light is, then speed up and if it has projectors headlights it will flicker those colors of purple blue white etc when it is in the rearview of your mirror.
