Default y7 in 93 ex.. loping idle and even some oil in places... lol HELP

ok my buddy recently swapped out his d16z6 for a d16y7 due to a spun rod bearing. it ran fine other than a loping idle which i thought was due to the fact he was using the p28 ecu because there isn't an obd1 1.6 non vtec ecu. on top of the loping today he had a power loss and the engine would not rev over 3,500rpms. i met him and in and popped the hood to discover oil coming out of his throttle body. after thinking about it and remembering he re-used his z6 intake manifold gasket i was wondering if this could be the cause of both problems. it has the z6 intake manifold on it and it was a metal gasket so he scraped off the paper one on the y7 and re-used his. could this be the cause of a lope at idle and oil coming from the throttle body? also after sitting for around half an hour it started up and ran fine again other than the annoying lope. any help or imput is greatly appreciated! thanks in advance.

well reuseing a gasket is Never a Good idea. the loping idel is most likely a vac leak or a sensor that isn't connected. as for the oil i would say it could be blow by did you put a new PVC valve in? also check the comp on all cylinders if one of them is low you will need to get another motor. remember jap 30K create motors are great but if you have to get a new motor every 30K you dont worry to much on tune ups. and try http://www.rywire.com thay make conversion harnness for most all of the swaps.

as far as i know there isnt a vac leak because we reconnected all the lines exactly as they were before and the harness wasnt a problem. the only cel its throwing is for vtec because he is using the p28 ecu and the y7 doesnt have vtec.

ok but reuseing the gasket could be causeing the leak at the manifold. also try pluging in the vtec from the othe motor in and see if you can get rid of the code it may help clear up the iden as well. the Limp Home Mode of most ecu's can make your car run like crap

that was what i was thinking. replace the gasket and make sure to get all the old off and make a good seal. i hadn't thought about trying to plug in the vtec but i will try that as well. thanks for the help
