I don't think you can use the HF block with any other head besides the HF unless you change the pistons. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Also, there are other wiring changes that need to be made in order to use the HF head.

the dx head will bolt up. all the engines that year use same mounts. the dx si and hf motor all same mounts. but about the pistons not working Im not to sure. bump for that answer. I know the top of the pistons are diffeten because of 8 valve design and 16 valve design

Well motors have different horsepower so i am sure compression is different, Piston size may be differnt, Why not just use the whole hf motor??

Well wiring is differnt, HF is multi point. DX is dual point. Need ecu, wiring harness, complete head with manifold and all sensors!!

Hf's have 4 fuel injectors
DX's have 2 injectors

It does not have EGR. I owned a 89 HF for almost 10 years. You are probably thinking of the HX Civic. Also, the HF is an 8 valve, not 16. You cannot use any other head on an HF block because the pistons have two valve reliefs in them, not four.
