'91 DX with the shakes
I recently bought a 91 crx dx with 17" wheels and it shakes (steering wheel moves left to right) as if the tires need balancing but i had them done and i also had an alignment done; it still shakes so my mechanic told me i needed a new steering rack (non-power).
i replaced it and it still has the same problem, i've also replaced the outter tie-rod and the passenger side inner-rod. the shakes seem to increase as speed increases and is the worst between 45 to 55 mph. i know i need to repace the struts because they are defenetely worn out, a friend told me it could be the wheel bearings; the front engine mount was also replaced, any ideas? i'd appreciate any info.
thanks,
Bert

get rid of those 17's, drive on something else and see if it still does it. i got flat spots on my front two tires from slamming my brakes (a stupid deer) and now when i drive the front end shakes. until recently i rotated the tires. now the back has the problem
I had this problem when I had 17's o my hatch many years ago...... got rid of the 17's and got rid of the shaking. I just think that those wheels are way too big for our vehicles. Try swapping in a set of stock sized rims and see if it makes a difference.
