Planning to buy some front speakers...help?
Alright, i'm planning to buy these front speakers for my car:

I drive a 98 Civic EX and was wondering will they fit? Also, the guy i'm buying these from is just selling the speakers and he doesn't know if they work or not, will there be a way to test if they work besides installing them? And he is just selling the speakers so would i need any additional tools to install them?
Thanks

I would not buy them, The seller does not even know if they work. And he can't even test them. Deal might be to good to be true. All you would do is pop the speaker with a 1.5 volt battery to see if the voice coil is good. But that does not mean the speaker is not blown out. To test for that I would hook it up to a test radio to see how well it plays music.
They'll fit. However, you may need to cut the plastic "basket" out of the door panel to get the depth you need. Either that or make some MDF spacers, but then you wouldn't be able to snap your grilles back on.
You should also spend the $6 and buy the speaker harnesses so the new speakers will be plug & play.

For a pair of $100 speakers. Come on man, thats just to good to be true. I have a rock that puts out 65 x 4 per channel in to a 4 ohm load at 2 volts. Would you buy that? With the money your about to waste you could find some speakers that are new and probably work. Plus those speakers are going to need a amp or a high power headunit to work anyways. Stock is nt going to cut it. Its your money and time. Remember, You get what you pay for

And the basket he is talking about is what the stock speakers is mounted to. And a mdf spacer is just a mdf ring thats made to make the speaker fit the door correctly and to give the speaker space to fit in the door. It also sounds better then the factory basket
