Default M2U4

How hard is it to acquire this transmission and would it go into a 4th gen h22a? It seems like the best to get because of its gearing.

Unless theres a better transmission that will work for maximum NA 1/4 mile times that I dont know about

The M2U4 has no where near the "Best Gearing" for an NA Application. Not to mention it's a 5thGen SH/Type-S ATTS Transmission. So you can't use it anyways..

the m2f4 is the "best" geared trans out of the factory:
m2u4 is an atts trans btw

you can get the same gear ratios with an m2y4 or an m2z4 (lsd)

but

M2F4 - 3.307 - 1.950 - 1.360 - 1.071 - 0.870 - 4.266
M2U4 - 3.285 - 1.956 - 1.344 - 1.034 - 0.812 - 4.266

the m2f4 is geared higher in every gear except 2nd, and .006 is very little

Matt, are you talking USDM Tranny's or any Market Tranny??
If any market, are you saying the M2F4 is better than the Accord Euro-R and Type-R.

M2U4 - 3.285 - 1.956 - 1.344 - 1.034 - 0.812 - 4.266 ATTS (For Reference Only)
M2F4 - 3.307 - 1.950 - 1.360 - 1.071 - 0.870 - 4.266
T2W4 - 3.285 - 2.090 - 1.481 - 1.071 - 0.812 - 4.266 LSD
U2Q7 - 3.285 - 2.090 - 1.481 - 1.071 - 0.870 - 4.266 LSD

Besides first gear in both and the last in the T2W4.. Second and Third are higher, and fourth is the same..

Okay, well I was wrong then. My mistake.

Currently im using the m2a4, then I thought about getting the m2b4 since it has LSD, but then i started looking at all my other options.

Althought all the comments are kind of confusing me, so is the m2f4 the best or not? Like I said, its going to be a complete NA setup, so wouldnt the t2w4 be better then, since it has lsd and close to slightly better gearing then the m2f4?

Better yet, someone should just post a list of all the tranny's that will bolt right up to a h22a (1992), with their respective gearing. That way I wont be confused on transmissions I cant use

Any H/F Series Tranny will bolt up. Besides the S200 F20C.

thats what I started to read about.

So I guess its best to keep an open eye for those, but my best luck is probably just a standard m2b4

i never understood why someone would pick up a whole new trans (especially a rarer/more expensive one) on a budget build for some minor gearing change.......why not get a final drive?

that would be like buying a new computer because your graphics card is to slow, you know you can get them seperately.

Because my CURRENT transmission is going out on me. THATS why I want to know about all these others. Im going to need to replace this transmission regardless, and I wanna do it best when I do, thats all

indeed.

why not buy an obx lsd, tear it down, tune it up, and throw that in too. no need to waste big money on expensive stock transmissions.

It seems some of you are having a hard time understanding i NEED to replace my transmission. This is not just a matter of "I want to be quicker", its a matter of buying a completely new transmission

It'd be cheaper for you to just replace whatever is bad in your current trans, and spend the rest of your money on a fd and/or lsd. Otherwise, you'd be better off just getting an M2B4.

IF I were to fix my transmission, I would need:

New housing, new VSS, new throw out bearing, new syncros, and mayyybe new gears.

Im talking F***ED.

$rebuild$ < $New transmission$

And I want to trip on LSD

lol.... He might have you there Matt..

Also, buying another Transmission is better for some people.. As not everything can have their car down for an extended amount of time when it's their DD.. They need quick swaps.

That and I dont have to pay labor for someone to rebuild it. (No way I'd try to rebuild myself).
