Default Anybody know where this goes on a h23?

I just put new pistons in and was getting ready to put everything back together and I have no idea what this is or where it goes... I found it when I took the oil pan and pickup off. Thanks for any help!

the pickup uses a paper gasket.

what all did you have apart, did you do any of the seals on the oil pump or anything over there?

no, didn't mess with any of that. I just took the head off, and the oil pan, then the oil pick up and that cover so I could get to the crank and take out the pistons and rods. I've looked everywhere and can't see anything that looks like that thing fits. I can't even tell if it broke off of something or if it is removeable. I'm beginning to wonder if it's even part of the car at all or maybe something off of a tool or oil filter or something.

Ok I figured it out... Don't hate me for this but it's a piece of my 1/2 inch ratchet. That's what happens when you use it as a hammer too. Sorry for wasting your time, thanks for all the consideration though. Now I can go finish putting my car together without worrying.
