antenna not retracting all the way down
does anyone know what to do to maintain the automatic antenna? when the radio is turned on, the antenna extends. when it stops extending, the motor is still running and makes a loud noise as if it still pushing up, even though the antenna has stopped extending.
the same thing happens when the antenna retracts except the antenna stops about 2 to 3 inches short of flush. and when the antenna does stop, once again the motor continues to run making a loud sound as if wanting to continue to retract the antenna. i can push the antenna flush, though is a bit sticky. what do i do to fix this loud annoyance?

yeah mine was doing that and i just took some anti- freeze to a rag and cleaned the antenna while it was fully extended. It removed all the dirt that was stuck on there and kept it from freezing during the rest of the winter. Works like a charm now.
Most likely what happened is that the antenna mast needs to be replaced as the plastic track inside broke and part of it is probably sitting in the motor.
Take off the mast and see if it is still in one piece! If it is (not likely)then just regrease it and put it back in.
