Which tach is right?
I'm trying to find out if my gsr has a ls or gsr transmission in it. A mechanic who was working on it the other day said he thinks it has a ls transmission in it because it wasn't staying in vtec all the time. He said if i went 80mph down the highway and the tach was at 4000 rpm in 5th gear I had a gsr transmission.
So I went 80 down the highway and the tach in the dashboard was right at 4000 rpm. The only problem is, I also have a apexi vtec conroller in the car and that tach was reading 3700-3800 rpm. Does anyone here know how to tell from this if I have a gsr transmission or not?

you have the gsr tranny. though the stock tach isn't perfectly accurate, that's the number that people generally go by when figuring out what tranny they have. the stock gauges should read 4k rpm at 80 mph.

around 3700 according to the stock tach. an aftermarket tach would read a little lower.
