Light on the 508D?
I just wired the 508d to my alarm but I'm obviously not getting any power to the sensor. When does the light come on in the sensor? Does it work the same way as the shock sensor, as in it will light up when something penetrates the "zone", like if you tap the shock sensor, it will light up, even if the alarm is not active. Or does the alarm have to be set to light up the sensor?
i dont think the alarm has to be armed for you to see it light up... have u tried adjusting the sensitivity? counter clockwise least sensitive, clockwise, extremely sensitive.. how did u wire it to your brain? do u have both the shock and the prox wired up?

No need for three topics on this. Two are going to be locked now. All of your threads on this are on the same page. The fourm does not move fast enough for you to do this. Please read the tos and faq at the top of the page.
I tried turning the sensitivity both ways with no luck. I was very confused on the wiring of the 508d. The whole alarm (Avital 4400) was professionally installed except for the 508d. I was finally able to talk to a sales rep from the place it was installed. He told me to wire both the blue and green from the 508 to a taped up blue at the brain. The red and black I wired to the red and black of the shock sensor. I think one or more of my connections are bad because I don't seem to be getting power to the 508.
The way you have the red and black wired, and if the shock sensors LED lights up, the 508Ds led should light up as soon as it detects motion in it's "field", the field has 2 "zones" that, together, can be adjusted using trim pot on the unit, the field can be made bigger or smaller, if the trim pot is turned up at all, passing your hand over it a few inches away should trigger the LED, if it does not, you miswired or the unit is defective

On page 21 is the way the blue and green from the 508D should be wired to the shock sensors harness, the 508Ds red lead can go to any fused 12V+ constant, the red lead in the shock sensor works just fine, but connect the 508Ds black ground lead to the 4400s orange, ground out when armed, so sensor is only on when alarm is armed.

Thank you for your reply. I think you may have attached the wrong file. The one with your reply is for a cd player. Could you please attach the right one if you have it. I checked my connections and seem to be getting power now. I did have a bad connection on one. But I cant seem to get the warning part working. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for the install guide. I have been searching the internet like crazy since I had the system installed and couldn't find one for the 4400. Even the DEI website doesn't have the 4400 guide on it. The sensor seems to be working now, but only on full alarm. I cant seem to get the "warn away" to work at all. If I'm not mistaken, the outermost (farthest to right) is the warn away sensitivity control. Any suggestions are more than welcome.
The first trim pot, [outside edge, upper left] adjusts full trigger only the second trim pot , [inside one] adjusts both zones... http://www.directeddealers.com...e.pdf

Thanks fcm, you are the best. Right now, the alarm sounds on full if you go anywhere close to my truck. It is to dark now to tinker with this thing, but tomorrow afternoon I should have time to try and adjust this thing once and for all. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks again.
