Sticky gas pedal issue
Hey i was wondering if anyone could throw me some advice.. I noticed that my gas pedal is a bit sticky, if you try and press it lightly it wont move you have to slam your foot into it. I have already checked the cables in the engine bay and played around with those.. so any advice would be awesome.
i had a problem with this when i first got my car, crap gets built up on the cable it self and it will stick open or crap builds up in the throttle body and it will stick bolth ways either close or open. best way to clean it is to take the throttle body off and clean it with carb cleaner and a rag or tooth brush.
If its turns out to not be the cable then it could be your throttle body. so try this--------> take off your intake, spray some carb cleaner on your throttle body, scrub in there with an old tooth brush as you spray, wipe clean. Might be time to change your pcv valve.
quick test to tell where the problem is... turn the throttle plate manually, if it's hard to move from the closed position then clean your throttle body.
If it moves free then replace your throttle cable.
My cable was kinked slightly right as it exits the firewall, caused it to stick only when it was closed.
