HELP!!! my 89 DX hatch hick-ups after 30 mph

I'll start the car and it will drive fine when the car is cold. I'll try to accelerate past 30 mph after the car warms up, and the car will hick-up (shakes alittle) a couple time before it accelerates properly. This will always happen when I press the gas after I shift also. The hick-ups are worse when I try to floor it. Any suggestions?

Do i need to advance or retard the distributor?

have you done a tune up? sounds like you "might" need one...
