Best Honda/Acura motor for Boost ???
300hp turbo GSR will probably be a bit more reliable than a 300hp turbo LS because the ls will have more tq (more wear). you could also do a piston/rod z6 or y8. either of those 3 will work well. its really personal preference. i would do the GSR and then if you ever wanted to build it you would be ready to put down some serious numbers.
thats a pretty tight budget for an engine and a turbo setup...better just turbo the engine you have if its in good shape...you just don't want to run out of money and be forced to buy cheap parts and lose reliability.
I agree, a GSR set up with some head studs+boost will surely yield u some nice numbers and reliable. At the end of course its all in the tune as well.
300whp on a stock block is pushing it... although I have done several set-ups like this on B18c1's, h22's, and b16a's. Out of the 3, I would go with the B18c1.
You may want to rethink your budget if you don't already have a motor swapped in. The swap alone is going to cost you around $2500.

Here's a cheat sheet for you:
Assuming you don't live in CA (CHEAP motor/parts prices), it would be along these lines:
$1500 full ls swap shipped
$2500 complete turbo kit, high-end and price includes every litte part needed
$250-750 full tune with anything from CromePro to Neptune
$400 full 3" exhaust
Add $1000 if you build it or get a B18C1 or add a Vtec head
You still have $1-2k of "oh ****" money in case something goes wrong, and you have 300 reliable whp. The SOHC option would be to save a thousand or two while gaining a bit more 'reliable whp' at the expense of spool time. For the price of that B18C1, I bought a complete d16z6 & built my entire SOHC bottom-end and turbo kit, I just haven't had time to do the clutch.

that set up only beat my stock LS (200hp) on 4psi. by a car. LS motors are cheap and make great torque. and in the end torque is wat matters most when getting the car moving

Yeah, except torque happens mainly from the transmission in racing and not the engine. Gaaah, I hate that misconception. Slap a B16 trans on your LS and THEN you'll really feel some damn torque.

I dunno about that reliability if you're spending only 1500 for a complete ls swap. I payed 2500 shipped for a complete 1997 b18b swap from hmotorsonline.

very true. if i already had the z6, i would def put in vitara's some TT rods and a cam and you are g2g, you will stop on stock block b series.
torque+ honda motor= lol But seriously I have seen some stock b16s take some serious turbocharged abuse. Although, along with everyone else I think the ls motor is going to be your cheapest option. What motor do you already have?
any motor you decide to go with and wanna make 300whp with longevity isnt going to be an issue with 6k to spend unless you still gotta buy a motor then in that case up your budget.
i got lucky and got my LS motor and tranny $300
get back at me if want a LS motor got a spare laying around but not with the tranny

the only reason LS's make more torque is because it takes more boost to make the same power, and the torque comes from the extra lbs of boost, not the sweet flowing heads they have
