Default D17 blower

First off search isnt working. does anybody know of a manufactuer that makes a blower for the D17? i googled and didnt find much. jackson makes a blower for the D16 and that manifold will fit with some fudging around. but id rather have a blower straight for the D17.

No, there isn't a supercharger made for the D17. You'd have to do a lot of customizing to get the D16 one to work.

just go turbo. its more efficient anyway. a supercharger takes power to make power. a turbo doesnt

turbo is nice but there are disadvantages to both. The supercharger might take power to make power but the power is steady through the powerband which makes it very ideal for daily driving, autocrossing, and even track racing.

some might contest it might not make enough power but really, how much power can you REALLY use as in getting it all to the ground properly? anyways, im done with the rant

someones getting defensive awfully fast.

his comment was

Only 16 year old ricer kids care about the BOV and it being "COOL" you shouldnt like a turbo just becuase of the BOV thats not the reason at ALL to get a turbo. Kid might as well drive an srt-4 if he likes the "sweet bov" since the damn thing goes off everytime you let off the gas.

This is like kids who buy an EVO than their first posts on the forum is 'WHICH BOV CAN I GET SO ITS LOUDER AND COOLER"

you have a point. but i have a jetta with an audi turbo engine in it and after a couple years of hard use the turbo is leaking. i think had it been equiped with a bov it might have prevented or helped prevent it leaking

back on topic. i hear its not a HUGE problem if you get the D16 blower as long as you get the EFI for it

nice analogy, unfortunatly it wasnt the help i was seeking. if i wanted to push more then 5-7 psi id boost it. HP is HP and TQ is TQ as long as you get it, it doesnt matter what its from

The problem is is that you wont build any power until very late which trust me is not fun. I have talked to many of people who have blown their four bangers and they regret it very much

just wait a couple of months or maybe years and im sure that some company will have developed a blower for the d17. if not, you can just get a small turbo (minimal lag)...there are also other things you can do to make the turbo spool faster: smaller charge piping, tuning.....
