Default 89 Hatchback

I looked at a 89 Honda Civic HB today. The guy was selling it to me for 1500. The interior was clean, no speakers though but has a Sony CD player. He bought it from some girl that had money problems. It has about 164,000 miles on it. Most are freeway miles. I was wondering if this was a good deal. If anyone can also help me, I got the vin. # its: 2HGED6358KH503277. Can anyone please check this out for me??? Thanks a lot...

Guess it all depends on just how clean it is. And if there are maintenance records. Deduct $1,000 if Jiffy lube ever touched it. But seriously there is huge variances in value depending on your area. Some places you can't give them away, and some places junk brings a premium price. But a ultra clean body and interior make a good place to start a project. then all you have to worry about is the heart transplant of your choice.

I paid 1,000 flat for my 89 with 155,000 i drove it for 3 months and out of nowhere it turned into a smoke bomb. Bad luck, but good reason to speed up my transplant process. I live in S.Cali and personally know people who have paid 4,200 for a 91 Si with just intake and exhaust. It really comes down to how bad you want the car.

I paid $2,200 for my 1989 DX. It had 152K and a dent in the front left fender. I got jipped, but I liked the car. When I brought it home, about one weak later I noticed rust...I was PO'd. I didn't like the car that much after, but now I love it again, I'll fix it.

It all boils down on where you live, certain Geographic areas ask for and get premium prices and others they go for a song because nobody wants them. But hey if its cherry it isn't hard to convert and your insurance company won't think your driving the Si and paying higher insurance for the privledge. I paid $350 for my DX 108,000 miles with a burned exhaust valve.
