There really is no diffrence. Some people say their ebay shifters break on them, but if your hasnt you wont see a diffrence by getting another one.

most shifters actually snap from people over tightening the **** and it weakens the shifter.

Actually a lot of shifters snap at the **** because they're cheap pieces of **** and that's where the weak point is due to the notch cutout before the threading weakens the neck.

Ebay shifters break a lot because of this. If you wanna waste your money on one, go ahead. You can buy REAL B&M shifters on ebay...but of course they're more expensive.

no difference huh. speaking from experience?

yes there is a difference. i can't tell you about all the shifters of coarse, but i have driven a civic with a ebay shifter vs. my B&M shifter.

the B&M shifter weighs more and gives a stiffer/smoother feel when shifting.
i personally recommend the B&M, along with some poly shifter bushings. i guarantee you wouldn't want to stop driving!

Same thing with the Skunk2 shortshifter. The components are of higher quality for the first part, and are heavier where they need to be. The Skunk2 shortshifter should also be used in conjunction with the Skunk2 weighted shift **** for added positive shifting, and balanced functionality of the system, which is crucial. I will always love mine, great shifter feel.

Two components of the same system that were designed to work with each other; you can't beat that. for quality shifters.

for those with the b&m, does it rattle for you guys? i had the b&m in my old civic and i loved it but it would rattle like crazy and it annoyed the hell out of me...i was looking at the skunk2 or the mfactory one but not sure yet...i'm trying to make the feel almost like my s2k.

b&m for me too, you might want to retorque the pinch bolt at the bottom of the shifter to stop the rattle infinity

B&M blows. I have two of them

Skunk2 + the skunk2/blox weighted **** = *******.

And get some poly bushings in while you're down there.

the only reason why ebay shifters break is becuz they are made out of aluminum. If your not shifting like a *** hole you'll be okay. My buddys been sporting a ebay short shifter w/ es bushings and it feels alot better than my b&m factory bend w/es bushings. Though he has a b-series and i have a D.

Is it just me or does the b-series shifters/shift linkage feel alot more sturdy/solid than the D-series shifters/shift linkage???

Well, all the more reason to recommend to people we don't know to get a higher quality shortshifter: They are *******-shift proof. Best not to take any chances, in case they do indeed shift like ********.

i`ve noticed that it`s always the 1-2 shift on d15/16 series trans that are rough d17`s are more solid, just a personal opinion

If you ever plan on driving where it snows (and gets salted), I'd stay away from the Junk2. Don't get me wrong, I love how it feels, but its definately not 304/316/18-8 stainless - mine developed rust spots after sitting. ANd the bearings are no better than the cheap ebay **** - the unsealed bearings rusted solid. I didn't want the B&M because all the pics show it w/o bearings, and I really dont like the single bend shifters.

FYI - the ebay shifter I got for $15 took a shitload of force to break - I was trying to make it useful again and tried bending the rod backwards in a vice (was a single bend style). I'd bet they break mostly from 'jdm powershiftering', overtightened rods, and rusted bearings.

thats because d15\d16 's are hydrolic, and D17's are cable

like the 1st guy said ebay shifters are more prone to breaking and other brands are made with higher quality components. But ive rocked a DC Sports short shifter with no problems and also ill vouch for Skunk 2

Ummm. Stainless rusts guys. It's not magic.

Skunk2's are definitely stainless.

Blox = skunk2

The blosk dual bend and weighted **** is EXACTLY the same construction as the skunk2.
