Engine Stalls
New to this group and did not find this topic on the boards. Driving a Y2K S2000, no mods. At random times (sometimes once/month, sometimes twice a week) the engine simply stalls when the car comes to a stop. When it does occur, it usually keeps happening the next 5 or 10 times I come to a stop. Then the problem goes away. Taken it to the dealer a few times over the last several years when I get particularly pissed off, but they keep telling me they have no idea what the problem is since the mechanic is never able to "duplicate" the issue. Anyone have an idea what the problem might be?
Recent change in weather? well not really since i live here too. what you are experiencing is a MAP sensor problem. Search for "map whack" and your problems will be gone.
i had this same problem, but car will stall every time i come to a complete stop..
I bought the new MAP sensor, new AIC motor, with no luck.
I took the car to 4 honda dealer 2 in FL and 2 in CO with no luck..
year later i took my car to a performance shop, and they found teh stupid issues. TPS was moved.

Correct, this is what it is.... just locate it and give it a couple wacks ... seriously though.

This is very common with our cars. I simply just reset the computer so it would adapt to weather changes and learn the maps again and havent had a problem since. I have read to whack the Map sensor a few times also. This topic has been brought up several times on S2KI.com. For further information I would check there.

As others have said. Do the 'map whack'. This could solve it permanently, but most likely it's temporary fix. I just live with it. Push the clutch in and give it gas when it looks like it's going to die....Just pray it doesn't happen on a steep hill! LOL.

BAD BAD IDEA!
its a learning ECU and when you do that, it doesnt give it a chance to learn. You're just f$@^ing with it then.

its heat soak... completely normal...
same thing with weather change its acts the same thing... what happen is that, from the moment you start your car in the morning, its registering cold air... once under the hood gets hotter, it'll change the setting... thats what you called heat soak...

Puhlease.... It's an option. Other have tried it and it worked. I've tried it and haven't experienced it in awhile. Not telling anyone to do this every ******* time! No harm trying it once. People seem to have differing degrees with this problem. With my car it is was disgusting. Completely embarrassing and at times potentially dangerous.
Edit: I reread the thread. What's the bad the idea?

you don't get it. its only temporarily solving the problem for that driving session. if you keep doing it the ecu will never learn. its not about trying it once...its about not doing it!
You do realize that it was you who mention the "map whack" first? Try it once. There's varying degree of success with this method. It's been discussed to death in many other forums. And for the most part, the consensus is, that it does help.
