Default 5-lug and Rear Disc Swap

OEM Parts Needed -

Front Knuckles L and R
Front V6 calipers L and R
Rear Knuckles L and R
Rear EX (4cyl) or V6 calipers L and R - they're the same
EX 4yl or V6 parking brake lines
OEM or Aftermarket rear disc brake lines - I used Russell SS lines
V6 Accord Rotors/Pads F and R
New Brake Fluid, OEM or Equivalent - I used Valvoline Syntec

Recommended - Change the outer tie rods and lower/upper ball joints if you haven't already. My tie rods were bad (torn) and my D. side lower ball joint was on its way out.

Recommended tools -

4 jack stands
Jack or two
Breaker bar (bigger the better)
17mm, 14mm 6 point sockets - preferably deep
17mm - 14mm wrenches
1/2" and 3/8" ratchets
Assorted extensions for both sized ratchets
Line wrenches (for brake lines)
PB Blaster
Propane torch (stubborn bolts or studs)
BFH - Big F*cking Hammer
Air gun
36mm socket (axle nut)

I haven't finished it yet, just got the fronts done last night and started on the rears today (7-30-07). Probably finish most of it by tonight or tomorrow. Still waiting on a few bolts to come in the mail and figuring out how I'm gonna get the parking brake lines out.

Hit a speed bump in the progress (7/30/07), one bolt on the rear pass side didn't wanna come out. It seized itself in and when I tried breaking it loose with the breaker bar I ended up tearing the rubber bushing loose. I called it quits @ 4 cuz I was just getting more pissed off and frustrated with it. Probably gonna end up cutting it out.

That's a good idea. I want to do a ROH conversion in front and disc in back. Whenever I see parts for the conversion I grab them up when their cheapest

Made more progress than I thought I would this morning. Parking brakes (e-brake) are done, everything else is bolted up except the rear calipers cuz I don't have any bolts that will fit the holes. So...on with the pics! FYI - these are in reverse order.

Side view...guess you cant really see much.

Rear pass side

Rear D. side

New e-brake cables in

This bolt was a bitch to get out and an even bigger bitch to get back in.

These holes are where the two brackets for the D. side e-brake cable mount, the smaller hole is for a tab on the bracket, the larger is of course for a bolt. These were also a bitch to get back in.

Old e-brake cables, D. side out - that's the back of the carpet showing through that hole. The cables pull right out as soon as you unbolt and unhook them.

Removing old e-brake cables, grab the cable and turn it to the open side (right for Pass, left for Driv) and pull and thats it.

How its all put together once you remove the console, yes I will be cleaning it once I get to it.

Same stuff as above, just a closer shot.

which makes me wonder...has anyone ever run seperate lug patterns.. like 5 in front 4 in back or likewise? doubt it would make any sense but it would be different.

Toyota Paseo

Well..I already put down that its V6 knuckles in the first post under what parts you'll need. Its a 98, which would probably mean 98-02 accord parts since not much else will fit.

How about clarifying what year your car is and what year parts used?

Why would I get new bolts for something under the car that's just gonna rust anyways and I'll never remove again?

Kbud - how about you read up 2 posts from this one and my first post.

No years posted in the first post. In the third post up, are you saying your car is a '98 and that you used '98-02 parts?

The post is from 2007 originally.......

I don't think you're going to see those pictures anytime soon. And the instructions should be detailed enough that with a Helms manual you can do it.

Even so, it would still be nice to have the pics on the forum!
That's the impermanence of the internet though. So, when you see...COPY!

The original post date is 2007, and I did not see where it says what year of a car it was done to. I did notice in one photo that it looks as if the photo is of the trunk of a 2 door coupe from 98 to 2002 which makes sense that you can use all of the parts from a 98 to 2002 5 bolt pattern car. I don't believe that you can use the rears from these years as a direct swap for an Accord that was made prior to 98. It is strange how they have made parts for different models that are hard to match. The 94 to 97 Accord has different size spindles in the rear depending if it is a I4 or a V6. I don't know if a rear knuckle from a 98-02 would fit a 94-97. Thanks by the way for posting the pictures again, by the way where else do you have a post that details this change, just wondering if any posts out there that may have a clearer post as to doing the rears on a 94-97 Accord that does not entail using parts that just barely fit.....

I was wondering if when you do a 4 to 5 lug swap do you run into rim/tire problems, such as rubbing on turns etc ?

No, you would use the stock V6 5 lug wheels or aftermarket wheels that are setup for the 5 lug V6 cars.
