Default s2000 stereo

So as most of you s2k guys know the stock stereo is pretty weak. I have an 03 and im finally getting around to do something about it...but im not sure the best route. I am leaning towards a set of kappa components in the front and a 10" sub in the trunk. My question is, can this be achieved reasonably with the stock radio? I am not very familiar with wiring things to a stock radio without any preouts....so anyone have any pointers?

Yes. Check out the JL cleansweep or other premium interface.

Why not start by replacing the weak link in the system, the stock HU.

Any speaker you connect to the stock HU is not going to sound much diff. and definitely no more output, and can even sound worse then the stock speakers because of the better frequency response and power handling of the aftermarket speakers.

Sub bass is a little diff. and very easy to connect to a stock system, using an amp with speaker level inputs or using a "LOC", [Line Output Converter] with an amp that does not have speaker level inputs.

If you are planing to amplify the front aftermarket speakers, [Infinity Kappa components] then the way to go is the JL Audio CleanSweep... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...id=79 or something like it. 94

BTW, Last week we installed the CL441dsp, 450/4v2, 500/1, 10W7 and Hertz Mille MLK2 in a 06 Civic sedan, used the stock speakers in the rear but isolated them from behind with Dynamat, wired them in series and connected them to the bridged channels 3 and 4.
I must say I was very impressed with the SQ, the imaging was very good although maybe a little left/right biased, see is back next week for a tweak. 94

Ive got an S2000 and been doing research. I like the stock door speakers but if I was to upgrade I would get boston acoustic pro seperates in the doors. I had them before BUT they had no bass. For a sub I was looking at the infiniti basslink II but I think I would be disappointed as I like bass heavy music.

I really like the 10" RF punch enclosure for $119. I measured the trunk space w/o the tool kit in the trunk and it should fit ok. It might stick out of the hole a little bit though. I would like to fit the 12" punch box but I think it may be off by about 2 inches. Im probably going to get one or the other. If you want more power, then kicker also makes enclosures.

For the price though I think this is where im headed. Anyways here is a pic of it. With a 200 watt punch amp, it should sound really good. Also thanks for the info on the JL product. Im going to pick me up one of those too.

Theres no argument here, it looks like some junk from outer space, however the good news is the description of it says black carpet so it may look like this one. Not much of an improvement but whatcha gonna do?
While it doesnt look pretty, RF had probably scrapped 10 designs before this one so it should sound as good or better than a custom one built at a shop.

Well I got this 10" RF box for free. Fits alright. Its Punch HE rated at 200 watts.

Im going with a kicker mono amp that puts out 200 watts into 1CH and a reported 368 watts at 2 ohms. Its the ZX300.1. Its only $138 at Brandsmart in Miami.

This RF box is going to get the hell pounded out of it LOL. I can later upgrade to a better fitting box and better 10" or even a 12" woofer. Im trying to keep this Simple and Save Some Space (SSSS) . More write up and pics later. In the mean while if anyone can recommend a good PAC let me know.
