Default V-banded Collector

After working on a new jig for the last couple days, I am pretty happy with the results. I think the major advantage of the housing is the natural progression of a round collector into the housing without hitting any walls, more of a seemless transition, which we don't see on most t3/t4 flanged collectors.

Is there a gasket that will be fitted in between the flanges?

Have you ever used v-band flanges for turbo exhaust housing inlets before?

I've been wanting to use them, but I was unsure about leaking.

There's usually no gasket... We use them on diesels all the time for the exhaust flange and have yet to have one leak.

Looks great. What turbo is the housing for? Also, what size is that V band?

This v band collector will also work with gt28rs, and the gt30r as well

very nice work - I've been wondering about leaking as well - glad to see it's working well for you. Kudos!

V bands are really a great alternative to the typical gasket sandwich bolted together. Shouldnt have problems with them leaking, at all. I cant recall seeing this done with turbos that often. So you feel this will improve exhaust airflow into the exducer housing?

on a typical t3 flange there is overlap on this new v band flange there is none at all. well see how our testing goes. we have an evo project this is going on, but the b-series will be tested soon. i think the new flanges will have a definate performance advantage over the typical t3.

ill measure the flange dimensions later if i can. i beleive the flange size is tial specific so they might be the only ones to get the clamps from.

can you provide some pics of the exhaust side inlet with the vband on it?

also, does the turbo housing come with a vband or do you put it on yourself?

thanks.

Yeah dude....where ya been.....those are Tial's new cast stainless vband housings for GT series turbo's.

Tial openly didn't proclaim huge performance gains. I think this mainly strives to clean up the housing, plus it gives you flexibility on the angle that the turbo is mounted. Your not restricted like you are with a bolt pattern. The benefits of the collector transition was very clear right when these were proposed. It's a nice product...no doubt about it.

There shouldn't be any overlap on a standard t3, 2 seperate cuts will get you the exact outlet size

I think the biggest advantage is purely weight, HKS has used these housing for awhile now...so they are nothing new. Some will argue the transition in the actual housing is smoother with a round entry vs. a rectangular entry but how much..i dont' know.

Either way looks great

That is correct...

Alot of the Garrett stuff is desiel technology that is intergrated over...Its cheaper on their end lol. Turbo's like the HKS T51r (gt42r equivelent) weigh about what a t3/to4e weighs

Alright Mrs. Butterworth

There were a good number of threads about it in the FI forum, just figured pretty much everyone had come across it at some point or another.

I got a pm about pricing on these, currently we are selling them for 150+ shipping.

This one will fit the GT28rs, GT30r, and GT35r series of turbochargers.
