Default Why are 1988 suspension parts different then 1989,90,91

i am looking into buying some aftermarket suspension parts for my 1988 ef9, im looking on ebaymotors mostly and alot of the struts, lower control arms, and other suspension parts are for 1989,90,91 not 1988. i am wondering if it has somthing to do with rear drum brakes or some other components on the rear. i am about to do a rear disk conversion from a 1990 integra and the main reason for this question is if i can use 1989,90,91 parts after i do the conversion as i believe the back is different and the front is not.
thanks

the rear is different in many ways which i believe honda changed because it was too agressive to handle for some? not entirely sure on that being true. I have an 88, bought suspension for it and noticed that the rear shocks are simply round with the bolt that goes through the middle versus the 3 newer years which have a fork on the bottom of the shock. Hope I helped

little drawing to help i hope, sorry it sucks, i have a bum hand due to a utility knife accident yesterday

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by powerpro_69 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">u can use 89-91 crx parts with the rear disc conversion</TD></TR></TABLE>

that would be correct. Please someone verify this further for the man though

all is correct...88 use ITR type lca's which require that type of suspension...if you swap in 89+ lca's you can use 89+ suspension (and get disc brakes)

i have an 88 and i just swapped 89-91 lca and then i could put on the other ones.

so find yourself some newer (89-91) lca to go with whatever youre getting
