I was wondering how much horsepower a 97 civic coupe's cv axles can take reliably without breaking/damage?
The answer has been posted, and many times before in many other posts if you serahced. There is no set "whp" any axle can take. People have run 1000hp Hot Rod cars on stock axles and not broke them and people have broke the same axles dropping the clutch on bone stock cars.

its dependent on axle geometry. i'm not trying to sound like a know-it-all but if your axles are angled back like on an H22/civic, its more likely you'll break outer joints very easily compared to an integra that has straight axles.

If you are on street tires the sky is the limit. For anything with traction it's up to the operator's talent, and whether or not you have wheel hop.
