haha im fresh to def foo lmao nah but really its not a dead animal smell or anything just like years put into it old smell ya know? I doubt its mold? its in good condition
get some foaming carpet cleaner and scrub until your hands bleed. Then scrub some more.
I did mine, and like 3 months later it still smells fresh. Have a hose handy to wash off the brush though, it gets dirty fast.

Carpet and upholstery can hold a lot of nasty stuff.
And there are so many rubber seals that in the typical crx have quite doing their job...and let small puddles form in little nooks and crannies.
1. Clean/shampoo seats and carpet
2. Give the whole car a good dousing of Febreeze
3. Keep a small tin of baking soda under the seat...it absorbs odors. There are several types of semi-permeable boxes that let air flow through but keep the powder from spilling everywhere..like:

the worst ever smell was when i bought my wife's accord. we went to foam/brushing away and i finally figured out 'what' the smell was....a can of vienna sausage 'juice' (or whatever it is called) had been drained out on her floor. i started blowing chunks uncontrollable for like an hour. just putting a lil humor to it.
BTW i still cant even get close to vienna sausages anymore

could also go to a detailer who has an ionizer that he can set in the car for a while. that will help a lot.
I had a 95 integra that smelled really bad when I got it. I did an interior swap. changed everything! even the dash. and before putting the new interior in, I coated the whole inside of the car with Tide detergent and let it dry. the car smelled fine until I turned the heat on. that foul smell came through the vents and stunk the whole car up again!
I didn't go the ionizer route that time. I should have.

Here's a bunch of things you want to check.
a) EVERYWHERE for leaks. Get up in your wheel wells with a power washer and see if your accuring any moisture on the inside.
b) Heater Core. Mice love to chill out there especially in old cars that are easy for them to get inside, thats where they leave their turds, whatever food they brought along with them, etc etc.
c) Seat foam and under carpet foam. Magnets for holding water, therefore breeding grounds for mold.
d) HVAC passages. The best way I've found to clean them out is use a real high pressure air nozzle and blast the funk out.
Best of luck to de-stinkin your car.
