Default too much for a hatch?

98 hatch, 70k miles all stock. Nice interior and body, very nice looking and clean.. He is asking $6200 OBO. I will see the car tomorrow. Is he asking too much?

Eh. If you say its as nice as you say it is. I'd start at $5,500 and work my way up with the guy. If its clean and works perfect I'd go for it. I would not let that go tho. 70K miles is excellent.

Post up pictures if you got.

I would personally look for one in the same cosmetic shape with over 200k and snag it for $2000-$3000

good luck finding one with a **** ton of miles and a clean body atleast not here in PA...you're lucky to find one with 30k on it and a straight body.

snag that hatch up, **** i paid $3000 for my 2000 that needed a new front bumper cover and has 130k on it.

I talked the original owners down to 5 grand when I bought their stock DX hatch with 38,000 miles on it.

If he's asking 6200, he wants 6k. So you could probably get it for 5800. For a car that only has 70k miles and can be turned into a beast on the cheap, it's not a bad deal. If you're seriously looking for a nice EK hatch and you have the money, go for it. Most of the hatches out there are all screwed up or have tons of miles, so it's a good find.

whats the engine in it?

i bought my ek straight from japan for 4000, it has about 40k miles on it and a d15 engine. i just added another 1200 for paintjob, mechanical, wheels and some cheap sound system. and it turned it pretty good

yep. to tell you the truth.. it was kinda smuggled

and here we dont have any problems with the cops.. our only problem here is car theft, thieves even go for our side mirrors.. and we would end up buying sidemirrors in the blackmarket.. we would even buy our own sidemirrors again lol

Among stealing other parts, thieves broke my dome light cover to steal the light bulb...

To the OP: How rare are hatches in your area? In DE I know that would be a great deal since there are very rarely hatches even seen, much less for sale.

LOL here in Colorado, there was a 98 hatch with 30K and it was super clean inside, but a snow plow rubbed it so it needed a passenger side head light, fender, door, mirror, and rear quarter panel repaired. The guy took $500 for it, when I called the ad on Craigs List, about an hour after it posted, the guy said it took 6 minutes to sell!

youll only see an ek hatch once a day.. unlike the 2007 civic, its like almost everywhere.

nothing could possibly be worse than that

6200 for a stock sohc civic is really high! for that price I would want it to have a ls motor, rear discs, and sway bars. I would look else where like a turbo mr2 maybe

lol a couple of things about that car really bother me more than others, and dont think that this is my opinion for all cars, just ones that have needless $50k or more into them. first of all no ac!?! the car has countless addon useless electronics, but couldnt keep a stock creature comfort! second, a stick on gauge pod? A whole pillar is like $30!!!! And finally included with the auction is a list of 12 "potential" sponsor's email!? haha

I talked it down to $5900, drove it and it is in really good shape with an aftermarket radio and alarm. Interior is the cleanest I have seen in a hatch. Body is pretty good, just very minor blemishes. Engine and tranny are fine and suspension is good...kind of hard to find one in this shape.

Get it.

I paid $6000 after taxes for my 00 with 103k on it.

It's HELLA clean though. Body and interior are mint.

Sounds like a good deal. Nice to see you picked it up. Post up some pics cause I wanna see this beast. And to the ebay ad, never in my wildest dreams would I pay 15K to 35K (buy it now price) for a friggin civic. I like 'em, but I'm not that crazy over them.

i wouldn't pay that much for a stock hatch. Maybe if it was a 99-00, low mileage, clean paint/interior, maintenced. Thats a maybe...
