Default I am craving some bass in my system!!!

I am thinking of getting a 10" or 12" sub and an amp around 500 watts. What kind of electrical upgrades would I need to make. Deep cycle battery?? Optima red top?? New alternator?? Capacitor(s)??

Also, would I need to get a new deck, or is it just for better sound quality?? I dont want it ghetto rigged either. I jsut dont really want to lose my dome light.

Also, if I got a new deck, would I lose my alarm and keyless entry??

You shouldn't have to upgrade much, wiring, cap. I take it you own a civic, you can still retain the dome light, keyless entry. They leave the stock deck in but hide it. Someone should come up with a way to eliminate this, you could make some money. I would do it if I had a civic at my disposal.

You may also have to upgrade your battery I don't know the specs on the civic battery. I imagine it is fairly small. When I had my integra I used my stock battery for a while. It did just fine, I was running approx 1200w.

i take it you have a G6 96 or 97 Civic (because of the dome light statement).. all you have to do to retain the dome light is look at the green security plug...connect the Green/Red and Green/Black wires to enable your dome light (even if you took the deck out) yeah you would lose your keyless.. i guess you could either put the deck behind the dash and power it for the keyless to work.. or you could get an alarm that has keyless entry and not have to use the stock honda keyless system..

I don't think you'll need a new alternator or deep cycle batteries for just 500 watts.. get a .5 farad capacitor and you should be fine..

if you want to change decks all you have to do is swing by your local stereo shop an pick up a kit for your car. it will have a "T" to hook up the factory radio and a new deck. All you have to do is with a lot of patients stuff the factory radio behind your center concole. This will keep your dome light and your keyless entry (which I could not live with out).

Oh yeah, as for upgrading you electrical system, there is no need to with just one amp. Just make sure you get heavy enough power wire that will allow you to up grade later on. Best way to do this is to buy a 4gauge wiring kit with distro blocks and fuses or breaker included.

Cool, thanks Guys, where do you recommend hiding the stock deck??

Also, do you need to keep the stock CD palyer (the place were the cd's actually go) also, or can you take it out and get the blocker from honda??

Thanks!!!!

you put your stock cd player in the dash behind the radio and a/c controls as for your stock cd player that sits below by the cupholder (why the hell did honda do that? thats such a dumb place for the cd player?).. you can either buy the cubby hole that the car would have come w/ if you didn't buy the stock cd player, get a din sized DSP/EQ unit, put some guages or something (although it would be kinda low and out of place, lots of things you can do..

What I want to know is how to get rid of the CD player, can you just disconnect it?? or do you have to hide that as well?? Or is there a kit to bypass it so you can take it out.

BTW, would jsut get the cubby hole thing, my bro has one all ready for me from his civic that he had the player installed in after he bought the car.

Thanks!!!!!!!!

u can just take it out... for your domelight to work..you can either do what I said (wire the grn/red and grn black from the security plug) and do away w/ the head unit (both cd and the top radio/tuner) but that way you would lose your keyless entry... you can go and buy a harness like the other guy said... and hide the radio behind the dash... you dont need the factory cd player for hte dome light to work..

an aftermarket alarm would come w/ keyless more security features and you wouldnt have a need for the factory keyless.. whatever you decide to do good luck..
