Default Cracked a sleeve.. UGH

Sooooooo, I'm on my way home from work, and this idiot cuts me off and flys past me like a bat outta hell, I HATE that, so I downshift and the instant I did, I filled the road with smoke, I'm thinking to myself, hmm that's odd??

Get the car home, inspect it, visibly everything is fine, tear the head off, and WOW, cyl #2 sleeve is cracked in 3 spots, drop the pan and my arp rod bolt only had one nut on it.. Talk about a shitty day..

Oh well, turbo kit is now off the car, cleaned up, and for sale to fund my k-swap.. Gonna do a k24/k20, 6spd, kpro, nitrous.. Done with boost for awhile, stay tuned for some pics maybe tomorrow?

Was only making 287whp on 13psi, guess it was just time for the motor to go, bought it used so it had god knows how many miles on it, all I did was have some ARP headstuds and rodbolts installed, otherwise it was stock..

The K, is gonna be fun

this all seems extremly stupid to me, for you to try to swap to k from a small mishap like this. you can pick up another longblock for alot cheaper than it will cost you for a "blingin" k series.

instead of spending your $$$ on a K-series you should get the block sleeve and new pistons and rods

it was tuned on uberdata, nothing special..

and guys, ive wanted to do a k swap for awhile now, this just gives me the excuse to do it.. ive already got the tranny, mounts, axles, shif box, etc.

I still have no clue why the one sleeve cracked, it wasn't alot of power at all, but it looks horrible.. lol

if you want to do a K swap than go ahead. theres nothing wrong with it. people suggest other options because more power can be had for less money. a K motor is a great option

what makes u say that?

seems like his last setup was done right, so i see no reason for it happening on a new K.

everyones telling him not to do a K swap and there have been many successful ones. sure that happened no his last setup but our motors were never made to have a turbo so sometimes things will go wrong unexpectedly. should a stock sleeve crack with only 287whp? no. but the motor could have been worn, had high miles, and who knows what else. he can afford it so starting with a strong, low milage motor is never a bad idea. if he can fund it than why should people bash him for it?

My tuner didn't sound so sure that it wasn't his fault.. I told him what happened, and he assured me it was timing, if there were any issues with the timing, they should have been fixed on the dyno, but he didn't mention it..

The K will be done right, I'm gonna build it while it's out, I'll have less than 3500 into the swap, I've got the type-s tranny, hybrid racing mounts, base model axles, ry-wire harness, 4puck clutch kit, shift box, just need to find a cheap k24 shortblock (condition doesn't matter as I'm gonna rebuild it anyway) and a type-s head, which I may be picking up off ebay this weekend if the auction doesn't get too high..

I've been planning on doing this swap for awhile, buying one piece at a time, but this little issue has pushed me to complete it sooner, car will be daily driven with ice cold a/c

As of right now the complete turbo kit is off the car and for sale, have a pending sale that I hope goes through..

A JDM ITR 4.7fd LSD tranny with a centerforce DFX clutch kit

skunk2 intake manifold for a gsr

b-series into eg hasport mounts

b-series into eg linkage

b-series gator stg2 axles

and a stock jdm gsr crankshaft that looks to be in good shape..

The tuners name is gonna be kept personal, I'm not blaming it 100% on him, the motor came from a 94 gsr with god only knows how many miles on it, but I didn't care too much as it's not my daily driver, its seen 320+whp a few times when my wastegate was freaking out and making boost spike like crazy..

I haven't had a chance to go mess with it due to work, the sleeve looks horrible though, pics will be up soon..

If you guys know of ANYONE interested in the turbo kit, that is only about 5-6 months old, let me know, it comes with both D and B drag a/c friendly log mani's, ill throw in a chipped p28 and everything, link here:
