I have searched but found nothing.

With any Vtec engines, If Vtec isnt holoked up (wiring) will the Redline Decrese because the Vtec is what pushes it to the correct red line????

Because i just swap a GSR and havent hooked up Vtec and my red line is at 6600..

If someone can comfirm what i think is right would be awesome

I'm fairly certain that VTEC has nothing to do with your overall RPM red line. With VTEC disengaged, there may be an issue in the mechanics of the engine not allowing it to proceed past 6600, but I doubt it's directly linked to the VTEC solenoid not engaging.

 

If its not the fact that my Vtec is wired why else could my redline be at 6600....my swap is a 01 GSR into a 97 EK with a OBD2a ECU

 

honestly, i'd not worry about where your redline is until the engine is wired up correctly and in good working order.

wire it up correctly then if it still gives you a legitimate problem, then i feel you should be concerned.

 

are you using the GSR(P72) ECU? or the stock civic ECU?

I understand that im just second guessing whats going on but the last thing i needed was

a vtec oil pressure senor since mine broke during the swap and i ordered that l2 nights

ago so that should be here by monday.

Its a P72 OBD2a (but the thing is I ordered it on EBAY and it was deff opened before

me and was messing some screws. Not saying someone screwed me because i can

deff tell a difference in how fast the RPM shoot up when im using my stock civic ecu

vs the p72 so idk but it says p72 on it bottom line so ill say it is one...... ill let you

since people are replying on this message i have a problem of my own. i recently bought a crx b16 swap, still has obd0 and i am going to obd1 soon with everything i need to buy parts when i have money. anyway, i was throwing code 21 wich is vtec, i traced the wire and it just goes through firewall, where do i hook up the vtec selenoid wire to the obd0 ecu for now until i get my obd1 stuff??? thanks, wanna get this code worked out today so please help me!

 

is the ecu a vtec ecu? if not, you are beat. if so, put it inline with the pin on the obd0 ecu that is for vtec control.

 

im sure it is a vtec ecu, i see its supposed to go into pin a08, i have the wire ran and about to take off the ecu cover. i hope there is a pin inside the clip i can use, if tehre is no pin how can i attach the wire? i guess i can go to the junk yard one day and just pull a clip out and cut the wires to get one pin clip lol, i dunno. do you think there should be a pin inside the harness clip?

 

Vtec did exactly what i thought.... Redline is now at 8000 and much fast thanks everyone
