Unless you bought your EX before the Si came out, you sholdn't have had to wait. I got mine 3 months into production and only had to wait 3 days because it was on the Ft. Worth Auto Show floor and the dealer couldn't pull it early. Just gotta hunt them down.

Well, I had a Dodge 4x4 truck and needed something cheaper to drive. I liked the EX Coupe and sedan, the coupe won out! I really like the Si (my son has a 2000 Si) but I was out for economy with some luxury, the EX Coupe fit the ticket! And since I put TWM shift parts and Tien springs on it, I am very pleased with it! Next will be wheels and tires (tires are the ONLY thing I cant stand on my car!) and maybe a HPF (is that right or HFP?) axle back exhaust.

I never bothered to drive the ex when making my decision. I knew I wanted something with a little get-up-and-go, so that ruled it out. I guess if you are trying to make this decision you need to ask yourself if you are buying a car for its styling and fuel economy or are you going to want something with more power, better handling and overall driver's car?
I have went the economy route while in college and the only thing it did to me was make me want to modify the little bastard Although, the modifying bug has yet to die with the new purchase... I just keep it bottled up for the time being.

It's HFP = Honda Factory Performance

I went with EX for the fuel. Si is definately better for aggressive driving. But at the end, ex can still be driven with a style and saves some bucks on fuel. I don't see why you need to pack the power of Si for daily driving. I would definately get the Si if it had the same mpg as the EX. Si is very sexy, but you can pretty much make your ex look just like a Si. So unless you going for the power, ex can do just fine.
I think it all ends up to driving preference.

Same here, actually if they didn't make the Si I would have gotten an 07 AP2.
Yunning83: Should of gotten a hybrid if mileage was a concern. lol

yeah but the hybrid is like 5k-6k more. that's like 3-4 years of gas for 12k miles per year. By then I'm probably trading it in for a new car or selling the car itself. See I know my math when it comes to saving a couple of bucks.
Plus hybrid don't come in coupes to fully enjoy the sporty look imo

Yeah.... I have an EX and i'm happy with it. Bought SI rims and Kuhmo low-pro tires, tinted. SEXY. I get a lot of compliments.
MOST of the time I don't care that my car isn't fast. When I get smoked by Escalades I wish I had the SI. Whenever I drive by the gas station I am glad I DON'T have the SI.
Its not SI or nothing, they're both Honda Civics w/ moonroof + disc brakes + alloy rims + 350watt 7 speaker stereo + steering wheel audio controls. IF you are a ricer, its SI or nothing, if you are a reasonable consumer there are a lot of different elements to consider, not just whp.
BTW: for those SI or NOTHING people. If you only bought the car for its DOHC, VTEC and performance features, with no other selling points which are common with the EX, I would have gone with the NOTHING option. You should have saved money and purchased a faster car with more torque, WHP or 4WD. Lots of cars run circles around the SI for less money than a lot of people dump into the SI w/ aftermarket parts.

for me it was SI or nothin. I have an econobox and love it. I wanted something with a little pep that can handle corners pretty good for a stock setup. Most cars around the price dont run cirles around the SI. They can run a strait line past it. Take it to the hills and auto x tracks and the SI is very competative.
Another reason for the SI and not an EVO or STI, the 30k price tag and stupid insurance prices. The mazda speed......well its a mazda and wont last longer than 6-7 years and thats if you baby it.
I guess it was an SI or no car at all for me.

If you have to ask how old you need to be to test drive the car, they're probably going to give you extra hoops to jump through. I can just walk in and ask for a test drive because i'm in my 20's and I have a clean driver's license.

I've been considering an EX over an SI as well.
I don't really need speed, I rather drive around in a classy car then be tempted to street race people. Plus, i'm sure over the years turbo kits and such will come out for the SOHC version so whatever.
I'll probably end up getting an EX with Navi. Not only that, I think the non-spoiler look of the EX looks a lot better than the Si
Or i'll just get a used S2K

haha all these replies and i still dont know whether i would like to get the Si for performance or the EX for ridiculous mileage.
if i did get the Si, i would feel like i was overpaying since id be shelling out like 22-23k for a civic. i know i know it IS a really nice car but still....
but yea thanks for all the replies
