Default mildew smell in car during and after rains?!

lately, i've been noticing a strong mildew smell in my car during rains. however, i've checked for wet carpets and leaks inside the car and have found nothing.

is it possible water from outside is getting into the ac system?

what can i do to fix the problem?

thank you

You could always try using Febreze on the fabrics, as well.

Febreze Auto

You know, I have this exact problem too. Ive gone through shampooing the mats and febreezing the bejesus out of the interior after changing the cabin filter...still there. Really strange.

Somewhere in the system there's a drain that clogs and backs up.
I've heard of this before.... some place over in the passenger footwell people tend to get water soaked carpet when the thing clogs up...
the problem is, I'm not sure where the drain/line that clogs up is located.

Yes, I do have a sunroof...thought the leak might be coming from there but no moisture in the headliner either...
