Default b16 spun a bearing

hey, this sucks. i was driving down the freeway going like 70 and i down shift to 4th and the clutch stuck to the floor for some reason and i didn't realize it and i punched the gas and well i dont have a rev limiter. so i pull over and everything seemed fine then i keep driving because i going to honda to pick up a oil pan gasket and i almost get there when i start hearing like a rattling and scraping noise so i get it towed to a shop and they think its the rod bearing on my number 4 cylinder. the car runs fine besides that because i drove it home from the shop. so my question is why would my clutch stick to the floor and its a cable tranny?

i had a hole worn in the carpet where the clutch pedal goes, it used to catch & hold the pedal there. i had to be very careful
