What DSS old Stage 5's aren't supposed to look like...
This happened to me at the BOTI MIR event. This is the 2nd DSS old stage 5 that took a **** on me on the track. These were both remans straight from DSS. By no means am I trying to say DSS is ****, i'm just saying don't buy their remans..lol. Although I think it had something to do with my shitty axle geometry because of my H22 swap.

Ouch, how much power were you making? The old level 5's are now sorta like the level 3.9's. Susp. geometry does have a lot to do with keeping an axle in the car stock or high perf. parts. Seems like the 5.9's might be next on the list for you
i'm making 680 hp. i wish i could get the 5.9s but i just can't afford that now.
i'm jealous of integras, they have perfectly straight axles that make them much less likely to break.

i recently thought i broke my older stage 5's and after getting it back to the shop i was later surpsied the half shaft snapped clean in half.

LOL..I read in the hybrid forum a few months ago that some dude found a simple solution to the axel angle problem..Cant find it though.

wow, that looks like the same type of joint we use with the nitro driveline (cage/*****/inner race) im actually suprised to see that broken, we have been abusing our stuff for over 2 years now.
it looks like the splines on your setup are stripped out ? i cant really tell from the pics ?

i dont understand why the mount kits avaialbe for that swap make the axle angles suck so bad? a few years back we made our own mounts. we put the axles in the trans and in the hubs while the engine was dangling in the engine bay on an engine hoist. then we made engine mounts that positioned the axles damn near perfectly straight. unfortunately i dont have any pictures of the axle angles.
its funny this is back from the dead because i was pulling my knuckles off to put extended wheel studs in, and found out that the inner passenger side is broken too. right now all 3 axles are on their way back to DSS to get some chromoly cages put in. i hope that fixes this problem but i'm really bummed that this keeps happening. i feel like its a problem that can't be solved w/o moving the motor back to get better axle angles.
dturbo - the splines didn't twist. the cages are the only things that broke
h22civic - no traction bars, 25" slick, and the ride height is pretty high to fit the slicks under the fender.

the no traction bars might have played a roll in this destruction, with the violant movement the tires/suspension is going through. are you planning on getting some traction bars on the beast ?
yea def some traction bars ,lighten the bitch up some and i would stick with a 13" slick and a twin disc helps alot.ride it out (preload the clutch)G/L
I had stage 2 DSS on my Gti and they where crap. Broke one in less then 2 months... They are built like harbor freight tools... I would recommend Raxles.com he says they wont break. I had them and love them

I would hardly make a generalized statement about DSS axles like that, you obviously don't realize how many thousands of people use them with 100% success.

Did you go over the power level that the axles are designed for? The level 2's are just a tad stronger than oem's IMO so any huge increase in power and you really should have gotten a higher level. I will keep to myself about raxles... lol.

we have the old 5's on our car and broke them quite a few times already.. switching to the 5.9's now
they were fine with 650+..now that we are in the high 700 low 800 range they arent holding

hell ive been 9.8@158 on stock axles. i can't keep a tranny in the car (4th gear) but i can make a set of axles last!!

lol.. we are the opposite. didnt break a tranny for like 3 years, but went through like 3 sets of axles this year.
