Those sensors almost never go bad, do you have a swap or did you rewire the distributor? A mis-pin will cause that, even if the wires for the sensor are right, they may be connected backwards.

Check your pins, they do vary.

I sure don't see any subassembly, even the factory service manual states not to remove them (You can, but you could mess up the pickup coil clearances.)

Nice disappearo trick MatterMatt

Sorry, I got lazy and didn't read the post about swapping the internals form one to another before posting. My fault. Yes, the pins vary. The subassembly is the housing, the guys I work with (myself included) refer to it as the subassembly even though the catalog refers to it as the housing. I think there was a bulletin that referred to it as a subassembly, and that is where it got started.

That sensor is either 7 or 8 in the drawing. It is not available individually because it comes as part of the housing/subassembly and can be damaged if removed/jagged with. You can disassemble the distributor (cap, rotor, igniter, coil) without damaging them. Its a common thing to do. Call the dealer and ask a tech if you think I'm jerking you around.

As far as putting d15b internals into a y8 housing, I can't say for sure. That was what I neglected to read. Again, my fault. Definitely check the pins and make sure nothing was damaged when you made the switchero.

I love you slowcivic2k!

XD You love me?

I successfully put D16Z6 guts including all the wheels into a B16A distributor after the shaft bearing failed, and took the teeth off all the wheels, been working for a year and some change now, so it is doable. Just takes a really small bearing puller and a torch, but it can be done.

Yes I do!

See! I told you you can expletive with distributor innards! Sensors can be sketchy and aren't recommended, but it is doable. Wait a minute, you doubted the subassembly swap, but gutted a B16 distributor? Our relationship won't grow if you keep sending mixed messages.

I did a subassembly on a 96 EX last Saturday, right after I spilled and filled an Accord auto tranny!

No, that was about the sensors being a purchasable subassembly for the housing, which it wasn't. I was gonna post that they could be swapped in my first post but all of a sudden your post disappeared and I forgot what was in it XD.
