Default suggestion regarding users

it seems that lately there have been alot of ppl who are only posting negative, non constructive posts. for example someone asks a valid question or says what do you think of my car and ppl go off on him in a very childish manner. in my opinion it takes alot of the fun out of honda-tech and also makes it hard to get good tech info.

my suggestion to fix this is to give the mods the ability to temporarily freeze someone's account where they cant post for a few days or something. so if they are being ridiculous they get "grounded" for a while till they cool off cuz ppl get on a roll and dont wanna stop it seems. hopefully this would weed out alot of the ppl who just wanna cause **** and leave the ones who are truly interested in learning about our cars and helping each other out.

What do you think matt? your the one who'd have to put the time into it. what does everyone else think?

I, personally, do not have the ability to edit user accounts. However, I can delete/edit any post I desire, as well as, I can deduct points for explicit posting. As noted in last nights rather ridiculous activity, I will step in when called for and act justly. If you guys want something done, you have to report it and mention why. In the past month of me being a moderator, I received a total of 3 reports for this forum. I acted as much as I saw necessary, but that doesn't mean there wasn't more to see/do. If you guys have a strong enough feeling towards something, you got to speak up, and the best way to do so is with the reporting system.

Also, just so you guys know, report threads you think are good, and could be added to the FAQ's as well. Just make sure to leave a reason why.

Yeah, it's a Praise/Hate system. It all depends on what comment you put with the report.

Honda-Tech as a whole has seen its fair share of ********. Its one reason that I left for a while and only came here when I absolutely had no other means of finding certain info. This place has gotten huge over the years and with growth comes growing pains, normally in the form of more asstarded posts, repost upon repost, flaming sessions that go on for days and in multiple threads. It just comes with the territory and while I'm not a mod here, I am elsewhere and can tell ya that in most cases "grounding" someone isnt going to change the fact that they are just an idiot by nature. The best thing you can do is ignore said idiot and as Matt suggested, report the post. Let the mods take care of it the way they can and if that means a banning or two to tell the masses to pipe down, then so be it.

This is the internet for christs sake, its supposed to be an informational tool, not a place to go and bully people from behind your keyboard. If ya wanna be a bully, go down to the nearest boxing club or dojo and see how far that **** gets ya in real life.

Honestly people, its not a difficult concept to grasp. I know I come here for car and motorcycle related stuff, no more no less. There are some great people here that I know I will never get to meet because you're on the other side of the planet, but at least I know youre here to give me the info I need, when I need it.

Did that make sense ??

i think we should just let it ride.... i consider this forum as the EM2 hang out. talk about whatever you want. I just like the fact that there is a forum just for EM2s..... We should have a sticky thread just for Tech questions

Yes, please let us mods handle the 'bad' threads. Feel free to PM us (report the thread) if there is something you feel is good or bad.

If someone takes it to a personal level, let us know and we'll take care of it. I can and will ban if someone keeps it up. I don't like doing that, but sometimes we are left with no choice.

I know we get a ton of newb posts in here and that's part of the reason another mod was brought on (toyomatt). I just couldn't keep up with all of them. Just hang tight and they'll be taken care of.

Hahaha Is that directed towards me?

But on to the subject, think about the topics that are always asked. What swaps can I do , I am going na what do you think? Can I b swap? It gets very very very old reading that same **** over and over again. But ever since I got banned I have cut down on the flaming and I am going to keep it likr that, unless I get drunk . So I do agree with you for certain things.

heres an idea..probably impossible

make it so that anytime a new user signs up..the only thing he can look at when he logs in is a FAQ page. and a big red sign that says dont ask these things...then after 2 or 3 days..they can come in..

but what about the people who are already here hmm...lol

that was stupid...dumb idea anyway...good luck trying to clean things up.

wow... that's something. i'd have to say out of all of us you definately had the most to say.

I like this idea except it has to be numerous tech threads or the thread can get really big. a lot of people don't understand their question in another form or if asked by another.

not stupid.. nor dumb.. however only give them the options of looking at the FAQs, and how to properly use the SEARCH button
