Default AC prob.

So I just want to confirm everything. I was recharging my a/c and got a little careless and put too much in, to the point where it started sparying out. Now when I use my a/c there basically is no a/c. It runs and then i get this "clunk" noise everytime it tries to kick in. And after its been doing that for a while, it starts spitting out freeon. I know its my a/c compressor but I was hoping there would be a cheaper way to fix rather than dishin out $300 for it. What do you guys say?

when you OVER charge the a/c does not work. Mabey try to let some out and see if u still get that clunk noise, if so then go to a junkyard, pick a pull or something to find a new compressor

if you over charged the system and tried using the a/c you probably destroyed/damaged the compressor.try letting some out by using a screw drive and pressing the valve down on the H caped valve(not the one you used to recharge the system, the opposite of the one used to recharge).let it out with the a/c off.after you let a descent bit out turn on the a/c and see if if makes the noise.if it still does you need to let out more and if it doesnt then your good.
hopefully you did not damage/kill the compressor.

there is a high pressure "pop off" on the back of the compressor.
Is that where it sprayed out?
The relief valve doesn't reset and has to be replaced, but it is a lot less $$$ than a compressor.

My ac compresser on my 2003 accord makes clunk noise when started but works fine and after being turned on it will not make the noise again until it sits for a prolonged time. any ideas?
