Default 1/4 mile times from E-town in my low-buck Turbo crx

It was a fun day at e-town on saturday, but their was no one there. the good thing was I got to run my car 9 times, and found out I need to do some work.
I was able to muster about 6 15.9's at 2.5 psi of boost my 60 foot was in the 2.3's most of the time. I was pretty happy, I just wish I could have got more boost, I busted my boost controller when I got down their. when I would go to run higher boost the thing would shoot up to 15, and start to detinate, and I had to stay off the gas, oh well. what do you think of my times my mph was around 87mph for most of the runs, oh the car and the turbo together is under $2k so this was a low buck turbo kit

like i said I need to do some work
its also a stock 160k mile engine and only 2.5 psi.
I know I could have done better, but I didnt push the car at all, I was bracket racing and I wanted to stay consistant.
but do you have nay ideas why my times were so slow.

If that is a CRX Si it should run close to that in stock trim. Why are your times so slow? Bad tunning, small turbo, low boost, blown motor, big heavy wheels (not sure if that is true can't tell size or brand), slipping clutch, restrictive exhaust, ect ect ect... It could be anything. I'm sure the turbo kit you made isn't as efficiant as say a greddy kit either.

Its your boost level, it took 5psi for my car just to be as fast as it was stock. Its the fact that you have a turbine choking your exhaust, and the mediocre boost leves arent enought to make up for that. Bump it to at least 7psi, and run a little more respectible numbers.

the turbo and manifold are from a Gredddy kit, and a starion intercooler, which I am useing 2 inch flexible radiator hose for my intercooler lines. Im pretty sure thats not helping. I also did not modify the intercooler end tanks. I have a pretty shitty 90 deg on one side. My wheels are 16" rota SS.
but IM sure the engine has had it.
but the car does feel fast
Im sure if I fix a lot of my half *** things it will run much better.
and I have the stock exhaust, but a gutted cat.

How did you get it down to 2.5lbs? The stock WG is set at 5.5. It sounds like maybe you're so restricted that you're only getting 2.5 at the manifold, but the turbo is trying to boost to 5lbs. That's a lot of pressure drop and a lot of extra work that the turbo is doing for all the more result you're getting.

Clean up the charge pipes then tap one of the manifold vacume sources for your wastegate. That should get you your 5lbs back, but if you don't clean up the charge pipes, you're still going to be working the turbo more than necessary and reaching max boost later than you should be.

Your exhaust has to be hurting too. A stock exhaust on a stock civic is one thing, but boost creates a lot of expansion, heat, etc. Upgrade. I'd also loose the gutted cat and make a test pipe. I made one for about $15 (including some damn nice stanless bolts that made up 1/2 the cost).

Really, for 2.5lbs, that's probably not a horrible time. Thats really not enough boost to make much of a difference, factor in the turbo in the path of the exhaust and you're probably running about what you should.

If the motor has had it, its time to crank the boost up to 12lbs and see how long it will last!!!

What are you using for a fuel setup? Don't tell me you are not adding any additional fuel or anything.

I stoped by your car, but no one was there, your car was looking sweet. I was busy trying to get my CRX running right, and I was also dynoing my 300zx, so I was pretty busy.
I ended up running a 15.4 at 89mph at 5psi of boost, but my clutch started to slip. who knows what my problem is. I think I am just going to sell the turbo and get a B16, and then turbo that.
catch you next time

no real plans for this engine, I will eventually do a B16 swap, but not untill I finish some other projects. I was only running 2.5 because something was wrong, and I just found it. their was a rip in one of my intercooler lines, it caused me too lose boost. there is still some tunning problems, and I need to fix my half *** intercooler setup. once I fix all of this I shoudl be able to get into the 14's without much trouble. I know the car has it in it.
