Default Mugen Exhaust & JDM ITR Header Installed Today

Had these installed today with a test pipe as well and the car feels great. I am surprised I can actually feel a difference with the new parts added. Next week the car goes in for the piston rings. I decided to go ahead and throw in some CTR pistons while it's apart too for a little extra power, while still being a 100% reliable daily driver. Only things I will add now is changing the intake to an AEM cold air, and running a JDM ITR ECU to ditch the CEL and run better with the new pistons. After that I'm done with the car and will run it that way for as long as I own it.

not exactly. pct pistons are not very well designed, are heavy, and the cr will be in the upper 12's. get jdm b16 pistons instead

yeah what Casey said, too much for AZ man. Import Powerhouse/RS machine built me an lsvtec with pr3 pistons, yielded around 11.5-.7:1 and that **** didn't last 5 months on a stock ecu. If you can even run that high of CR here in the summer I highly recommend that you invest in some good tuning. Also, screw AEM, get a BPI velocity stack

I will take pics when I can. I guess I will just leave it stock then. We plugged in the CR on a site and it said it would come out to 11.75:1

Mr. The One, that is inaccurate. It will be 12+.

May I suggest JDM ITR pistons. 11.1 CR should be a great compromise between power and reliablilty.... on a stock ECU.

I'm getting all my data from c-speedracing.com. They have a CR calculator and here is the link to the results with my car if the link works.

Well the link gets you to the calculator anyway and you can plug in the details. I will still be using an OEM headgasket. Please advise!

And this is why I think the CR calculator is accurate. If you plug in JDM ITR pistons it says 11.1:1. Check it out with the JDM CTR's, it comes to 11.7 and change.

its not. theres a huge thread in the all motor section from a long time ago. that calculator is not accurate. go ahead and put them in. i know internet sites is better that real world experience. not that ive ever had pct pistons in a c5 with a mugen head gasket tuned with an afc or anything

It is your car so do what you want. The C-Speed online calculator is not accurate.

IMO PCT's in 1.8L's are the worst piston you can run. I feel they make too much compression for a cast piston. If you can find them, P30's could make the same power, if not more. Plus they are lighter than the R series pistons.

btw, I got 12.09 using the C-Speed calculator. You must be using the B18C piston-to-deck height. You should use the B16B. The CR will in reality be about 12.8.

Interesting. Thanks guys, I think I will just leave the stock ones in or use JDM ITR's. I just want a little more go while everything is apart, while still maintaining FULL daily driver reliability.
