Since most people enjoy the commentary on the Picture thread, I sort of got an idea on how to make it a combination of both useful picture posts, and commentary.

How about, if I start deleting posts without pictures in them, after they've reached 2 months in age. For example, if you post a for somebody's car, two months later (rounding up), it'll be removed. It'd help keep clutter to a minimum, and make it much easier for newer members to see progress of older member's cars.

Throw in your 2 cents, if you have another idea.

Yeah i'll go with that. The thread does need tidying up, there's no need for 240 pages of it when half of it's jibber jabber. It's ok to have comments and such after the pics have just been posted, but months later there's no need for them to be there. If someone has a question regarding somebody elses car they could always PM them about it.

Just what i think.

 

I just think that it'd be nice to browse the picture thread uninterrupted by commentary. But, getting the occasional is cool. This way, we'd get the best of both worlds.

 

is there any way we could do something where i could search for a particular persons username and pull up pix theyve posted. like for example if i wanted to look at matt's car i could search "toyomatt84 pix" or something like that and pull them up without sorting thru the whole thread?

Well, I brought up the idea of user threads with a stickied catalog using links to get to each person's thread. Unfortunately that idea got shot down.

 

so each person would have there own pic thread accessable thru one catalog thread? i like that idea. too bad it got shot down. cuz it sounds like a good way to keep track of ppls cars. i remember a while back i asked u to post pix of ur car cuz i couldnt for the life of me think of what it looked like!

 

I'm liking the de3leting of the non-photo posts. The EF/CRX thread kinda does that too.

 

Great idea. The picture thread has gotten to big. Sometimes you wanna go look and see if you find a certain thing done on a car so that you get an idea on how it looks or whatever, and you just get bummed on hitting next so much. So this would help shrink it down a lot.

 

there's a program a HT user made that goes through ALL pics inside a thread and saves them to your computer, the program was called "ThreadSummarizer."

putting your idea to another level, instead of going through 200+ pages - maybe if i download all the images and host them somewhere (maybe a new photobucket account) and you lock/close the old thread and edit the first post with all the pics, it might work better for a newbie, except the newbie won't know who's car it is...

this way, you don't have to go through all those pages and use your valuable time, we can just start a new thread and you'll "tidy" it up every two months.

Along with deleting by date, you should delete ricers vehicles too. Such as fventura03, no one wants to see his car.

You're being too nice. I would have just deleted with asking Then again I washed my hands of that thread, so I'm glad someone is trying to do something about it.

240 pages is a touch extreme though. How about making a new thread every time the page count hits 50 (or whatever). Call them Part 1, Part 2, etc. Post a link to each in the FAQ, or sticky one thread with links to each picture thread.
