Default Driveshaft shop (DSS) axles??

Alright I just picked up a car recently that supposedly has some driveshaft shop axles and hubs on it but i want to make sure that is what they are. Anyways they are still on the car and one is clicking and needing a rebuild so that is why I am verifying it. The car does have extended wheel studs on it so so far so good but I havent pulled the rotor off to check for the hub but I did notice the end on the axle is odd looking and definately not stock but the axles arent any certain color like dss has on the website. So on to pics, I know they arent much but I would imagine not many axles have an end like this poking out the hub lol.. Please someone help verify this for me.

Thanks guys.

They maybe DSS b/c they have the hole going through for a cotter key. I know mine are like that. Can you take any pics under the car to show the actual axle and boots?

I can't view the photo's here at work, but both sets of DSS axles we've had came with blue or green boots.

Which stage are they ?

The extended studs should be about 3" long.

those are some badass volk wheels though ce28's

but yeah, if they're older style DSS axles, look for the boots to say rockwell on them.

Don't just look at the boots colors because DSS didn't start putting blue and green boots on till like 3 years ago. I have some from like 5-6 years ago with black boots so...

these definately have black boots and they are extended from normal studs i promise. those lugs just make them look shorter.. out of 10 hondas i have owned these studs are longer by about 1-1 1/2 "(total of about 2-3 inches) so i would think they are extended studs.

You say the boots should say rockwell on them? I can check that for sure, is there any other distinguishing marks without pulling them off the car?

my arp extended studs pretty much almost goes all the way to the rim of the lug nut (using similar lug nuts to urs)

I've seen DSS axle kits that came with "extended" studs and they were definitely shorter than ARP's or Skunk 2's. A rough guess, I'd say 3/4 the length of ARPs. So those in the picture could be DSS. They are definitely longer than stock.

DSS in the past had a stud that was about 2.5 inches long and now they are sending studs that are 2 3/4 long. Both are from ARP. You always do have the option to order with stock studs as well for guys that will never see track use and want to run regular style lug nuts and street wheels. I would have to say they do look like at least an after market axle from the picture you posted because of the cotter pin hole that stock axles do not have.

Now that I can see the photo, I agree with everyone else the cotter pin hole says they are not OEM.

They look alot like my DSS Stage 3 that I got back in 2001-2002, black boots also. Also the driver's side axle never goes completely in flush but it is fine. What makes you question them again? Best thing to do is call DSS up and ask if there are any type of distinguishing marks or #s on it to decipher what they are , good luck

Any of you guys remember the older DSS axles where the shaft was two pieces or something? It wasn't one solid diameter like a stock axle, but it was tapered.

mostly because alot of other things on the car have turned out different than what was told to me.. I was told it had buddy club coilovers but they ended up being silk road spec rm coilovers i was told the car was aligned but it definately wasnt as the dr's that were on the car were eaten up completely on the inside and it had a slight vibration. Just lots of little things on the car turned up different that what was mentioned is why i question them and plus the fact that they look different from most dss axles i have seen before.. i was hoping a dss rep was on the board and could help out and i knew the drag racing guys on here mostly used dss axles so i figured to post it in here for help.. but so far so good considering ppl are now thinking they might be.. i am going to contact dss soon so i can ask them for further info on getting them rebuilt.. thanks guys
