Default Does CEL 22 mean i need an oil change?

My CEL popped on a couple days ago. I checked it and it was code 22, meaning it is the VTEC oil pressure switch. Does this mean either oil is leaking from somewhere, or i need an oil change?

Did you examine the switch?

How's your oil level?

When it comes to vtec, it's not so much the oil as the quantity. No honda sensor will tell you if your oil needs to be changed.

Is the switch located below the solenoid? And I do have enough oil.

Then I would say you either have a faulty switch or somethings F'ed the wiring, more likely the switch.

Check the oil screen first. It's probably just clogged up.

Did you do any recent mods, this a new swap? Anything like that? Did this just start? Any catalysts (like a parts change) right before this?

you have to remove the vtec solenoid from the head, there you will find the screen.

Will this create a mess? How difficult is it to remove the VTEC solenoid. I did a search on it and some people said it only caused more problems trying to put it back. Any ideas on what i should do ?

oil will leak out. it is easier to remove it, check the screen, and replace if necessary, than having to search and buy a whole new/used solenoid.

the screen is only $24 at the dealer, the solenoid is $300.
