Default Need help with my windows

Now first off im going to say i didn't do a whole lot of searching because frankly im kinda freaking out about this little prob thats turning into a big one. My window on my 98 ex has been kinda slow for awhile but i didnt think much of it until today. When i rolled it up it got about 1" from the top and i guess kinda fell off track. The window didnt fall into the door or anything but it wont go all the way up...and so now you can pretty much push the window down and or pull it up. Which obviously isnt good for keeping water or thieves for that matter out.....any ideas? Im sure i can get it fixed at a reapir shop but my wallet isn't really prepped for that....is this a common prob that someone with a bit of mechanical intuition could fix?

this is a common problem...

to put the window back on track ur gonna have to take off ur door panel & unbolt the bottom of the track & slide the window back in

also dont forget to use some silicone lube spray to keep this from happening again

I have a 96 civic and have had the same window problems as you. I have put the back on track over a hundred times, I even bought new window tracks nothing fixed the windows so I have rigged it off the track to go up and down and seal the window tightly. You just have to do some manovering when putting the window up.

AKA window motor - yeah they go after awhile - it's a decade old car - expect them to be sluggish.

Try pushing up on the window while u roll it up - sometimes it just needs some more boost if the motor is going.

Honda wants 300$ to do this...i found some motors that are brand new for 50$. Im wondring if anyone has done this before? It dosnt seem like an easy task but if its possible it would be nice to save the 250$....does anyone perhaps have a write up on how the swapped out their window motors?
