Default 90 Accord DX

I've had a heck of a time with getting the speedometer to work. The speedometer started working intermediately, the oem vss was replaced. Did not correct problem. Took the car to a shop where try replaced the vss, still did not fix the speedometer. The oem sensor was put back in, while waiting for a new vss to be ordered. The speedomter worked intermediately again. The 3rd replacement vss went into the car and no speedometer ?? What else could it be ? And is it a DIY fix?

after you try to change the same part 4 more times, you may want to step back, and look at something else. Check the wires going to the VSS. Check the connector itself, see if its making a good contact. Theres also the possibility that its a faulty cluster.

well me the DIY thinks its gotta be something else, but those darn honda shop guys insist it is the vss. i'm thinking the gauge itself or a ground relating to the dash?

Mine gets stuck at zero in humid weather; I just thunk the dash above it to get it working. Maybe your cluster is gummed up.

wires going to the VSS are in good shape, have not pulled the dash to check the gauge or the wires going to it.

What ever the piece inside the tranny is that works with the vss could be bad. I had this problem with my Civic once, had to get a tranny...worked fine after that.
