searched.. still no answer. d16y7 into 92-95
ok my friend got a good deal on a d16y7 and tranny and is putting it in his 92-95 coupe because his motor just blew. now i have looked and looked and i believe the only motor that is 1.6 non vtec in 92-95 is the d16b7. it came in cx's and uses a p05 ecu. so we are going to have to either find a p05 which i havent found any or get chip burned for those fuel maps and ignition which seems kinda dumb just to do a single cam swap. but here is the question. what distributor?? i have looked on ebay and CANNOT find any obd1 1.6 non vtec distributors. they are all 1.5. any help is appreciated. thanks

since you have all obd2 stuff going in, why not run the y7 ecu. i know you would have to work out the harness but you won't need anything chipped.
oh, by the way, i think a d16a6 computer may work. this is the ef civic si and crx si ecu. again, havn't done this so i don't know but if i were you i would look into it.

the a6 computer wouldnt work because it would be looking for vtec. but using the y7 ecu would cost more because we dont have the ecu or the conversion harness so it would be cheaper to just get one chipped. but my main question is the distributor

Seems like you found a shitload of wrong info.
There WAS no USDM civic motor from '92-'95 that was 1.6L AND non-VTEC. There were only one USDM civic motor in '92-'95 that was 1.6L and that's the D16Z6 (VTEC).
The CX had a D15B8 which was a 1.5L non-VTEC 8 valve motor
The DX/LX had a D15b7 which was a 1.5L non-VTEC 16 valve motor
The VX had a D15Z1 which was a 1.5L VTEC-E (economical) adjustable valve motor.
There's no such thing as a B16B7 - the only B16B is the CTR, and there's no number at the end - if there is a B16B7 - it's definitely not a USDM civic motor.
The motor's like 90% plug-and-play.
I'm like 99% sure you'll need a different driverside mount because they changed the D series mounts from '95-'96 generation change.
You'll need a distributor plug diagram to re-wire the plug and wire it into a '92-'95 harness. The diagrams are all over the place, if you can't find one, I'll send you one.
I'm pretty sure you'll need an OBD-I alternator ('92-'95) or I think the plug there is different as well, but I'm not 100% on that.
You'll need to use OBD-I injectors, the Y7 uses 170's or 190's or something to that effect, the stock Z6 (240's) injectors should work fine.
As for the ECU, I would use a chipped OBD-I ECU with a Y7 basemap burned into it. The other option you can go is to get an OBD-I to OBD-IIa ECU conversion harness and use the stock Y7 ECU.
Axles and everything should fit, so should both trans mounts. Everything else will plug right up.
PS:
This is universal for whichever '92-'95 chassis you choose to drop this in - none of them will be "better" or "worse" than another in terms of "easiness" of the swap.
Hope that helps, PM me if you have any more Q's.
